This is a great continuing education seminar for our local K9 facilities to send their employees as well as regular dog owners to build their relationship and sharpen skills!

Jay Jack Seminar September 28-29th, 2024,

Here’s what participants can expect:
Importance of Play and Engagement: Jay explains how play helps build a bond between dogs and their owners. Different types of play can teach and reinforce behaviors, keeping dogs engaged and making training fun and effective.

Foundational Skills and Obedience: The seminar covers basic obedience and essential behaviors needed for successful training. These skills are taught through structured play sessions.

Drive and Motivation for Sports: Jay introduces techniques for dog sports like weight pulling, agility, dock diving, and protection sports. Participants learn how to build and manage a dog’s drive and motivation, along with sport-specific commands and training techniques.

Physical Conditioning and Safety: Jay provides routines and exercises to keep dogs in top condition, emphasizing injury prevention and safety. Understanding a dog’s body language is also highlighted.

Behavior Modification Techniques: The seminar addresses behavioral issues like aggression, anxiety, and excessive barking. Jay teaches how to assess behavior, identify root causes, and use positive reinforcement to encourage good behaviors.
Structure, Routine, and Consistency: Jay stresses the importance of a consistent structure and routine to reduce anxiety and promote better behavior. Participants learn how to create a stable environment for their dogs.

Training Tools and Techniques: The seminar covers the humane and effective use of training tools to guide and correct behavior.

Owner Education and Involvement: Jay emphasizes the owner’s role in the training process, focusing on consistency, patience, and clear communication.
Problem-Solving and Adaptation: Jay teaches participants how to continuously assess their dog’s progress and adjust strategies as needed.

Q&A Sessions: Participants can ask specific questions about their dogs’ behavior and training during Q&A sessions.

PUPPY/ADOLESCENT DOG FOUNDATIONS

They’re only a puppy once, start them off right! Help your puppy gain confidence no matter what life throws at them. Receive tools, tips and tricks to help you through all stages of puppyhood. Group class focused on establishing a strong relationship between young dogs and their human partners. We will familiarize all teams with the basic skills that will set you up for a rewarding life with your dog: sit, down, recall (“come”), and basic handling skills for the vet and groomer, plus so much more!

There is no prerequisite for this class.

Cherry Hill had a great weekend! My personal dogs and client dogs all did well and accomplished what we set out to do!

First I’m so over the moon with Key and our partnership together. Key completed her WTCH this weekend with beautiful runs. I love this little lady so much! Scores were sheep 114, 108, cattle 112, cattle 117 (1st place) , ducks 113 and others that I can’t remember placings or scores to.

Holy Crowley had an accident on cows Friday after his last cow run, after X-rays and a full work up at emergency vet he is doing good, some trauma to his bladder and crate rest for a week. But he’s in the clear and acting normal and happy as always. He got his Advanced Cattle title but I’m just happy he’s ok and still alive to be mad he had to just watch me work other dogs all weekend.

My client dogs:
Teddy, had his ASCA debut and he did not disappoint his family. He has come so far since he began and I’m so proud of him. Ted completed his Started Cattle and Duck title on Friday with High In Trial Started. And received another High in Trial Started and High Combined Started for the weekend and Most Promising Started Aussie. Good boy Teddy!

Chili completed her Started Duck title with 3rd and 4th! Good girl Chili Bean!

How can we not brag about how amazing our Junior apprentice did at the herding competition over the weekend!?!?! Her and Cherry Hill’s Crowley absolutely crushed it, 8 First places and 4 HIGH IN TRIAL JUNIORS!!! AND…. received a perfect score on her sheep run in the pouring rain and cold. We are so proud of Lucy, she’s gonna be kicking all our butts once she isn’t a junior anymore, look out!!!! We are so lucky to be apart of her journey!

Trainer Bio:

Morgan Lynd has been training and trialing dogs in various dog sports for 18 years. The world of dog sports is constantly changing and evolving. Her approach to training is to create a clear communication system between the handler and dog, while keeping things fun and safe for everyone involved.

She got her first dog, Pepe, an Aussie when she was 7 years old. Together they competed in Agility, Rally, and Junior Handling. She was awarded for being one of the top agility junior handlers three years in a row and one of the top Rally junior handlers by the United States Australian Shepherd Association (USASA). They also completed 2 times at the AKC Junior Agility Invitationals in Orlando, FL.

She currently competes in Agility, Rally, and Herding with her Aussie, Smack. They are currently working towards an AKC MACH, RACH and eventually an ASCA WTCH. Her accomplishments with Smack include Most Versatile Aussie (MVA) Qualifier at the 2022 USASA National, his first trip to the national and first time trialling in AKC herding. 4th place MVA and Reserve High in Trial at the 2023 USASA National.

Morgan currently has 2 dogs of her own; Smack (4yr old Aussie) and Cinder (2yr old Lab).

About Clinician:

Tanya has experience with many breeds and travels considerably delivering clinics and seminars in North America and Europe. She is a licensed herding trial judge with ASCA, AKC, CKC and the AHBA. As a herding teacher her focus is on foundations and more specifically developing the natural talent of a useful dog.
She graduated with her Master’s Degree in Biology and an undergraduate degree in Psychology (Animal Behaviour). The Cherry Hill Team had such a good time at Westminster! It was such an honor to be asked to be the ambassadors of the herding community and showcase dogs that aren’t just competition dogs but work a real farm for a living to the crowds and cameras.
Like most dog trainers and enthusiasts we have watched Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show all our lives- Getting to be there and showcase the tradition of herding to thousands of people was really special.

I’m so impressed and please with how well our team of 6 dogs handled the busy city, greeting crowds of people and working like no one was watching!

Thank you so much Westminster for having us!!

The Cherry Hill Team had a very successful weekend in Virginia. Completing not One not Two but THREE WTCH (Working Trial Championship)💥 for those not familiar with what it takes to complete a WTCH. Each dog must trial sheep, ducks, and cattle in the started, open and advance level and receive 2 qualifying scores under two different judges on each stock in every level.

Iorek- Friday got High In Trial Open Sheep, got his Open sheep title and finished his Advanced Cattle title with a 1st, 2nd and 4th.
Jynx Finished his Open Cattle title with 1st and 2nd.

Gigi completed her Open Cattle title and Open sheep title with High In Trial Open am/pm on sheep and cattle!

✨️DAY TRAIN PROGRAM✨️

Our Day Training Program includes up to 3 FULL DAY TRAIN days each week with your dog. Designed to make the most of your dog's day.
Drop off at our facility before 9:00AM and pick up same day by 5:30PM available Tues-Thurs. Our program gives your dog the opportunity to develop all types of new skills while having fun! Our program is completely customizable to you and your dogs specific needs and goals. You’ll let us know exactly what you want us to work on. Below are the wide array of options we offer!

Your dog will have access to learning the following:

• Basic obedience including loose leash walking, sit, down, stay, and recall
• Place training
• Crate training
• Threshold training  (no more running out the door!)
• Behavior evaluation
• Structured socialization and play sessions
• Mild behavior modification
• House manners
• Sport dog evaluations and training
• Field trips
• Herding evaluation and training
• Puppy programs
      And so much more!

At pick up we'll share what they worked on that day. You will be briefed with what you need to know to replicate and build on the training your dog receives! We’ll send videos with explanations and assign you homework when needed to make sure you're successful in your home environment or sport of choice!

Day Trains are $125/day, available up to 3 days each week Tuesday- Thursday.

So over the moon to announce this! I took my first client as Cherry Hill Training Center 12 years ago, a few farms and many years of hard work later Cherry Hill Training Center has officially closed on it's new 18,000sqft home!!!!!!!!! A facility of my dreams, I feel so incredibly grateful to have clients that have stuck by my side since the beginning 💗 I can't wait to pour so much love into this place and make it every herding dogs dream farm too! Sheep are being transported over in a couple weeks!
