We work hard to desensitize our puppies to loud and scary noises (fireworks, loud music), doors slamming, vacuuming, lawn mowers and kids screaming. This helps the puppies when they go home so they are not as scared as they may be. Remember a new home is going to be scary at first but once they learn they are home adjusting should be a lot easier because we’ve created loud environments and taught them the world isn’t scary when you’re home. There’s a few videos of them and scary noises in the comments

Well, I’m a big fat dummy. Embarrassingly, I’ve been giving everyone the wrong age of the puppies. They were born August 19th, this means that today they turn 6 weeks old. I’ve been saying they are a week older than what they are and I have no clue why. So, I apologize. Here’s this mornings how are you puppies video.

Meet the puppies

And last but definitely not least it’s Scarlett (soon to be named something else which we love & we will let the new owners reveal). Scarlett was named for a very specific reason, which we let the new owners know. She is very special to us. We were worried she wasn’t going to make it, and she is a fighter! We watched her closely for the first two weeks and are so happy she made it. She is also very smart. She was one of the first puppies to use the litter box and used it consistently. She likes to explore and play, she also likes to use her siblings as chew toys and when we hear crying it’s usually because her or Flora are trying to teeth on someone’s ears. She also loves to cuddle and give kisses. I think because we handled her so much she may think she’s human.

She is going to a great home, a friend of mine who’s daughter will be caring for her and I’m sure they will have a lot of adventures together. If there’s one puppy that I know will get spoiled, it’s this one. I fully expect this puppy to have more clothes than me, go on more vacations than me & I wouldn’t be surprised if this puppy has their own social media page that goes viral.

Meet the puppies

Here is Flora, named after one of the three fairy Godmothers. She’s a chunk. She was one of the smaller ones at first and has really shown us that she will never be late for dinner. She is daring and inquisitive. She gets on the rails and tries to escape at every opportunity, I think her weight is the only thing that stops her. When she is out of the whelping box she is off and exploring everything around her. She is very playful and likes to use her siblings as chew toys.

She is still available, we are looking for a home that wants to show because we think she would make a great show dog. She’s a great cuddle buddy too, as soon as she’s done exploring she cuddles right up and falls asleep.

Meet the puppies

Here we have Cruella. Named after Cruella De Vil because of her dark hood and white stripe. She is the smallest of the bunch, but not a runt. She is built like her mom, and looks a lot like her at that same age. She is pretty quiet and chill. She plays with everyone but let’s them know when she’s done. Her favorite thing to do is eat. 😂 she was the one shaking while trying mush for the first time. She’s pretty content being near us or her siblings.

She is spoken for, details are still being worked out.

Meet the puppies!

Here we have Rufio (you have to say it like they do in the movie Hook, RU-FI-OOO). He was one of the smaller puppies (7 originally, 2 didn’t make it). He is a little scrapper, he also is one of the louder ones, just like Rufio in the movie, and he likes to play fight with his siblings and then cuddle with them right after. He isn’t afraid of much and likes to explore when he’s out of the whelping box.

He is going to one of my oldest friends down in Florida and I couldn’t be happier for them. Rufio will make the perfect companion for their family and I am pretty sure he will make a great fishing buddy for him!

Meet the puppies posts. Each post will have pictures of the puppies, the name which we’ve been calling them by (subject to change by the new owners) & a little bit about them based on their ever changing personalities.

First up is Ferdinand (after Ferdinand the Bull). We call him this because he was the biggest boy and puppy at first also because his spots reminded us of a cow, 😂. He’s a sweet boy who loves to cuddle and follow you around. He’s also our first successful escape artist (just today actually). He is going to a great home who already has a Frenchie and two kids. The new owners are good friends of ours and live close so we will be able to see him. Ferdinand will be shown in multiple registries and we are looking forward to the titles he will bring home.

Here’s this morning and their shenanigans, the one we call Scarlett was trying to make her escape, assisted by her sister. I woke up late and they are hungry so they are trying to get to mom.

The last couple of days these troublemakers have been pushing their limits with the rails and thinking about escaping.

It’s pretty rare that Nola comes in to feed them without us telling her to. Puppies are eating mush/soft puppy food 3/4 times a day now. Teeth are coming in and pretty sharp. The litter area is working great and has made cleaning so much easier.

Phase 3 came a lot quicker than I wanted. The original whelping box was too small for 5 puppies and a potty area. So we had to pull out the bigger box and set it up. I’d say 80% of the p**p and p*e was in the litter box but there was some on the outside. Not a lot. It made it really easy to clean. More room will hopefully mean they keep it mostly in that litter box and I don’t have to deep clean the entire box as much as we were doing before. One went on his own and went as soon as he could.

After only one day, they know what this is and they can’t get enough. We have some razor sharp puppy teeth starting to break through so I know Nola is happy they are getting other sources of food.

The second picture is after they ate (then p**ped and p*ed in their litter area) they all cuddled up. Look how fat they are after eating!!!

Phase 2 is now in effect. The rubber mats with holes allows for the puppies to help develop stronger legs and joints and helps promote the strength needed for stronger joints (less issues later) and the tray with pine and Alfalfa pellets to start helping with potty training. The alfalfa pellets make the transition to grass easier and the pine cause alfalfa stinks with p*e and more for us 😂. They are also listening to thunderstorms, fireworks and loud music to help with desensitization to loud scary noises (no Taylor swift cause not even puppies can desensitize to that). Next phase is the bigger whelping box and toys and intro to more smells and sounds and scary things to help them be fearless.
