GRRAND

GRRAND Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND) - Greater Louisville, KY, Greater Lexington, KY & Greater Cincinnati Area.

GRRAND is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since our inception in 1994, we’ve rescued and re-homed more than 5,000 Golden Retrievers and mixed breed dogs. Averaging around 200-300 intakes per year, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home dogs that have been abandoned, abused, or neglected along with those who are the victims of changed life circumstances such as finan

cial hardship, divorce, allergies, relocation, illness, or death. The medical resources and cost required to rescue one dog are vast, ranging from basic vaccinations and medical tests to heartworm treatment and surgeries. We rely on adoption fees, donations, and fundraising so that we never have to say no to a dog in need.

Please consider GRRAND in your legacy plans

Leaving a legacy gift to GRRAND is a meaningful way to ensure that your compassion for dogs continues for generations to come. Planned gifts provide long-term support for our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Doodles, Great Pyrenees, and other at-risk dogs in need of loving homes. Below are several ways you can include GRRAND in your legacy plans:

• Bequests
• Beneficiary Designations
• Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs)
• Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
• Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
• Gifts of Stock

Additionally, GRRAND is committed to caring for every dog we place, for life. Should you pass away before your GRRAND adopted dog, we ask that you include instructions in your will to notify GRRAND so we can rehome your dog with a loving, approved adoptive family. While rehoming is already part of our commitment, a legacy contribution can help offset the costs of transport, veterinary care, and fostering during the transition, allowing us to provide your dog with the same loving care they received when first adopted.

All charitable gifts should be directed to:
PO Box 6132
Louisville, KY 40206
Federal Tax ID: 61-1314499

How can we make Halloween safer for pets?

Costumes and masks, lights and decorations, and a constant parade of strangers coming to your door— Halloween can be a downright spooky experience for pets. You can protect your pets by taking these steps to reduce the risk of them being hurt, poisoned, or lost.

Don't feed pets Halloween treats. Raisins can cause your pet’s kidneys to fail, and candy may contain substances toxic to pets, such as chocolate or xylitol (a common sugar substitute found in sugar-free candies and gum). Often, you won’t be able to tell what a treat or piece of candy contains just by looking at it.

Make sure your pets have identification (microchip, collar, and ID tag) that will make it easy for someone to contact you and return them home in case they escape through an open door while you're distracted with trick-or-treaters.

Keep lit candles, jack-o-lanterns, and other Halloween decorations out of reach of pets.

Keep all human costume pieces away from pets, along with glow sticks, decorations, batteries, and other holiday items. When chewed, glow stick items can release liquid that tastes really bad and can make pets drool excessively or act strangely (though it isn’t likely to be harmful). Other costume parts and decorations might cause choking, internal injury, or illness.

If you plan to put a costume on your pet, make sure it follows these guidelines:

👻Fits properly and is comfortable.
👻Doesn't have any pieces that easily can be chewed off or cause choking
👻Doesn't block your pet's sight, hearing, breathing, mouth, or movement
👻Take time before Halloween to get your pet accustomed to the costume, and never leave a costumed pet unsupervised.
👻If your pet is wary of strangers or has a tendency to bite, put them in a room away from the front door during trick-or-treating hours, or provide them with a safe hiding place.
👻Keep your pet indoors.

URGENT PLEA FOR FOSTERS! COULD YOU BE "FOSTER FORTUNATE"?

Will you open your heart and home to a GRRAND foster dog?

GRRAND is in desperate need of foster homes for adoptable dogs currently in our kennels AND for dogs who will be coming in very soon due to families traveling during Fall Break.

GRRAND Central Station is packed, which means we aren't able to help any dogs in need in shelters. We also have seven 6-month-old Doodle puppies that urgently need to get out of the shelter and into foster homes.
What does a foster need?

• A fenced yard for safe play and exercise
• Time, patience, and energy to help socialize and care for a dog
• A willingness to work closely with our vet team and adoption coordinators
How long is the commitment?
• The length of foster care can vary. Some dogs are adopted quickly while others may take longer to find the right home.
What support do fosters get?
• GRRAND covers all vet care through our trusted veterinary team.
• We provide guidance and support to help prepare your foster for adoption.
• You may be asked to bring your foster to meet potential adopters.
Fostering is a flexible and rewarding commitment. You'll be making a huge difference in the life of a dog while helping them transition into a loving forever home.
