Thanks go to Three Dog Bakery-Louisville for providing wonderful and delicious treats for Rookie and his new foster siblings. As you can tell they were dogliscous! Rookie loves other dogs, people, stuffies oh yeah and eating! Definitely eating. What are you waiting for? Visit www.grrand.org/adopt to adopt this sweet handsome boy!
Meet Rookie. Rookie is a gorgeous Pyrador. He looks like a Lab, but he has single dew claws on each back leg so there are Great Pyrenees in his DNA somewhere. Rookie is estimated to be around 60 lbs when full grown. This boy loves people, but can be shy at first. He is submissive to adult dogs, but once a friendship is started, Rookie is a wonderful playmate. Cats are unknown. Rookie is very food motivated and will be easy to train. He automatically sits when his food bowl is offered. As far as housebreaking is concerned. He is an adorable, playful puppy, full of love and motivated to be a well-trained adult dog. What else could anyone wish for in a new companion? Here is what his foster mom has to say..."Ok, I have to update Rookie’s bio to tell you what this puppy is really like and this may not be pretty LOL!! Rookie is a drama king!!! He THINKS he has kung fu fighting skills and shows off his wresting style whenever he can (see photo of him with Carson). He believes lawn mowers are out to get him and barks the alarm! If you walk inside for a minute while he is outside, Rookie will whine a couple of times to let you know he profoundly feels your desertion and how dare you?! If he can’t run right to his food, he runs around frantically yelping while trying to get to his bowl before he starves. Rookie is literally unable to show people and other dogs enough of the love he feels for them. And lastly and the most embarrassing thing about Rookie…he thinks he is a bug hunter extraordinaire. He loves to dramatically pounce on bugs he finds in the yard! So... we gave it to you straight... Never a dull moment or never a smile on your face when you are with this dude.+What are you waiting for? Meet Melissa ErinThis sweet girl is now ready for adoption! Her foster mom says she is now potty trained,This sweet girl is a brave Golden Doodle, just 2.5 years old, who overcame a harrowing ordeal after being found injured on the side of I-65 North near Horse Cave, KY. Rescued by a compassionate Good Samaritan, Melissa Erin was taken to Pike Veterinary Clinic where it became evident that her injuries were severe. Despite the heartbreaking decision to amputate her leg, she is on the path to recovery. Here is what her foster mom has to say...." She is an absolute sweetie! She’s great with other dogs. Great with people. Crate trained and potty trained. She’s about 2 years old we think. She knows basic commands like sit and go potty and I’ll go in her kennel when I ask her. Oh also she was super matted and nasty and got a full shave down, but her hair is growing back! Melissa Erin (we have been calling her Maple) is skinny and needs to gain some weight, and she is really a lap dog! She is so ready to find her forever family!!! Oh... and she LOVES the snow!"What are you waiting for? This week we said goodbye to our sweet Peanut, who peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
If you recall this senior boy Peanut was "left with the house" when his so-called people, moved away. THEY JUST ABANDONED HIM! After being found by a good samaritan he was taken to a shelter where he stayed for 2 months and they said that he was exceptionally friendly and loved other dogs. Thankfully he made his way to GRRAND because his adoption prospects were not great at the shelter just because he had a little snow on his sweet face.
While Peanut was never formally adopted he spent the last year of his beautiful life with an exceptional foster who showed him the love and attention he always deserved.
Sweet Peanut, this is not really goodbye, just so long for now!
Please help GRRAND continue to care for these beautiful souls by making a contribution in Peanut's name at https://grrand.org/donations/honor-gift-donation-2-2/

GRRAND wants to share a wonderful organization named Joey’s Paw that selected Joe, our tripod Golden Retriever, for a grant to fully fund his new prosthetic leg. They do amazing work by fundraising to make sure our beloved pets stay mobile with new prosthetics and specialty-fitted wheelchairs.
Check out their page and give them some love and a heartfelt review to let them know how appreciative we are that they selected Joe for this wonderful opportunity.

TESS UPDATE! Meet Tess If you recall an urgent plea was sent out last week for an emergency placement and a wonderful foster family immediately reached out to save her life! GRRAND is so thankful for their quick action and compassion to give Tess a second chance! Here is what her foster family has to say...."The vet says she is mostly Labrador retriever. She plays like a puppy and is very gentle when bringing you a toy or ball. She has the biggest, warmest grin and smiles up at you when you talk to her. She soaks up love and it’s impossible not to rub her soft head when she looks up at you. She seems to trust people and other dogs. She does bark when our other two dogs start a bark-fest but two or three deep chuffs and she’s done. She doesn’t love going in her crate but will chase a treat in and then rests quietly once she is settled. She seems to want relationships with us and our other animals and she is so smart she has already learned to communicate with us clearly. She will be such a good friend to someone. We have been working on house/potty training and she is learning so fast! Already from yesterday to today she seems to remember what I’m asking her to do. She knows “no”, “come”, “sit”, “outside” and has started to look when we say “Tess”."What are you waiting for? Meet Butler
Butler is doing so well in his foster home! We thought we would share this unedited video so you can see the major progress he has made for yourself.
This handsome boy was rescued from the Spencer County Rescue in September and is now ready to live the good life with his very own family and home. Can you be his hero?
This guy is in a foster home now learning what the life should have always been like for him.
A beacon of hope shines bright as GRRAND and animal advocates across the commonwealth collaborate to help rescue animals trapped in a devastating hoarding situation on a rural County Kentucky farm. Advocates eagerly await justice for the abused animals and the swift rescue of those still suffering in inhumane conditions.
It's awful to think of the terrible lives and abuse they have been subjected to. A litter of 4 week old puppies were found on the property and all had to be treated at the Emergency Vet for Parvo to save their lives and sadly, one did not make it. We have extremely high vet expenses for these dogs and really need ongoing donations to pay for all their care and we are also in desperate need of foster homes for these dogs.
As we continue to assess the individual needs of these deserving animals, additional information to come, so please check back for more updates... This is Butler and he is believed to be Golden/Great Pyr/Lab mix, and he is ready for his forever family. He will need a home with an above ground securely fenced yard as she is considered a flight risk due to lack of socialization and human love. He will need a family with the time and patience to work with her through any insecurities she may have.

Meet RubyThis beautiful girl was rescued from the Spencer County Rescue in September and is now ready to live the good life with her very own family and home. Can you be her hero?Check out the before and after pictures. They are simply amazing! Here is what her foster mom has to say...I wanted to give an update on Ruby. She is learning she can trust me and that a collar and leash is not the end of the world.🤣 We have been taking things a bit slow - baby steps with her due to her fear but she is coming along nicely. She is now crate trained, house broke, (we already know she is good with other dogs), learned how to go up and down stairs, she has been meeting many new people as that was her biggest thing to overcome. She is walking on a leash, starting to play with toys, learning “leave it” which is a big one for her as she tends to try and back out of collar/harness and bite the leash so I am really focusing on that and switching directions often so she is not trying to lead me.I am sooo very proud of her progress!!!What are you waiting for?
