Gorgeous day out there today 🌞 after last nights thunderstorm ⛈️
Slowly getting back into the swing of things after my surgeries. Not long now and I will be up and running (metaphorically 😂)
My all time favourite animal to train and love has to be the underestimated, often misunderstood and highly intelligent pig/piglets 🐽 🐖 🐷 🥰 credit to Rachael McKenna Photography for the wig and smoking pipe images
Can’t do a throwback series without including cows🐄 I love training cows - they all have their own personalities, idiosyncrasies, likes and dislikes. As a trainer you can’t help but become emotionally attached to the animal actors we work with they all hold a special place in my heart ♥️ forever grateful for the abundance of memories 🫶
As well as recovering from my shoulder surgery, I have now also just had my long awaited abdominal surgery. Therefore, it will be a little while yet before I am back training the more physically demanding board and train’s, so till then I will keep this account alive with throwback photographs
Throw back with one of the bulldogs I trained, travelled with and on set handled for “The Waterhouse”
Another throwback memory
So grateful to have worked with so many species during my animal training career 🦅
🐒 going way way back now 🤦♀️ baby Marie with baby Capuchin
🐘 she had the most beautiful soulful eyes. The logistics involved in getting her on set were so stressful, I had a few sleepless nights for this one. Sadly as is often the case I very rarely get time to get photos with the animal actors (as I am busy keeping things running smoothly) - so this is the only photo I have of her with me in her trailer
Today’s throw back photo 🥰
🕷️ another throw back photo - way way back 😝 this day on set will always be firmly impeded in my memory
While I am recovering from surgery and unable to work. I thought I would share some throwback photos. This photo was taken when I was a in costume dog agitator/decoy for an episode of Xena Warrior Princess, the white dog was my own Zenith (Zen) and the black and tan dog was Hercules a highly experienced animal actor
Walt was dropped off at my place today for a sleepover before he heads north for his homestay. Luckily for him and I picked us up to take us for a beach walk which we both needed 😊 Was so good to see him - sadly - due to my shoulder surgery he is unable to stay longer
Owners and trainers both need to better understand this dynamic.
Without clarity on this, owners develop unrealistic expectations, and trainers take on unhealthy responsibility.
Dogs only change when their environment changes—and only when it changes longterm.
Good trainers coach their clients on how to best change the environment their dogs live in by changing how their clients interact with their dogs daily, moment to moment.
Thus the only way you “fix” dogs is by “fixing” their owners through competent coaching and education. Any other expectation or promise is a guaranteed trip to disappointment-land, for both parties.
Another visit today from one of my favourite boys 😍🥰 ❤️
Received a couple of awesome updates today. Forever grateful to my students/clients for keeping in touch and updating me on your progress ☺️
Friday last week after walking with my Amigas and their packs, I was also visited by Jazmin Vette dal Bello who brought me some of my favourite previous four legged students and a newbie of her own to meet ❣️ 😍
A couple of weeks ago I was asked to help train some animals for a film project which included getting to work with people I respect immensely in the film industry. How could I resist 🤷♀️ so I broke my hiatus from working on film and I am glad I did. Obviously I can’t divulge any more information as yet, but it was nice distraction to return to what was once my primary career for a couple of decades
Due to unexpected but very welcome news. I will be having one of my surgeries much sooner than expected. Therefore - Clicking with Animals will be closed from the 20th of May until further notice (minimum of six weeks) Look forward to getting back after surgery and stronger than ever in a couple of months 💪 clients with existing bookings will be contacted directly
Miss him sooo much already. Safe travels little man and let me know what you think of snow ⛄️
