A gastric dilation volvulus, commonly referred to as bloat, is a complex thing in some respects. We can try and prevent as much as we can, we cannot necessarily stop it.

That gap between eating and exercise is soooo important. Ok you’re taking your dog for a trot to the end of the road and back, we don’t need to be so full on. But for the dog running and panting we do!

There is some suggestion that for dog doing extremely vigorous and long exercise stints, we give them a 4 hour gap!

In the past we always recommended raising the food bowl to lower the risk of bloat. Studies show this can be detrimental and in fact potentially increase the risk!

The only reason you may need to raise a food bowl to elbow height is if your dog has neck/back pain. Or it is raised to nose height if they have a condition such as megaoesophagus.

Always use a licensed boarder and never be worried to ask to see the licence. The licence number should be visible on all online platforms where the business has a page or website.

Businesswoman Georgina Bodle turned a rented property in Drayton Bassett into a boarding kennel and breeding centre without a proper licence, with dogs kept in shocking conditions

Have you been told your dog has a heart murmur and you are not sure what that means or what to do next? Do you have a dog with heart disease and want to know how to monitor them and provide extra support?

A heart murmur doesn’t always mean heart disease. Heart disease requires management and monitoring to be sure quality of life is at its best and to slow down disease progression.

Love hearts webinar comes with a posted certificate. I shall share the design with you very soon. This is especially important for pet professionals to show owners you are learning all you can and doing your best. And the session can be logged as 2.5 hours CPD.

Click the link to book your space and please do message me with any questions you’d like me to cover during the session ❤️

Ear disease in our pet’s is painful and miserable for them and sometimes us! It’s often recurrent and requires a management strategy which we can work on with our vet but must implement. We don’t need to clean healthy ears! But we need to have a quick look and sniff at our pet’s ears regularly to make sure they are healthy.

If you missed my canine and feline ear disease webinar you can watch it following the link below 👇.

I think you’ll be surprised at what you learn and feel empowered with the knowledge to start making a difference ❤️

Keeping these joints supple throughout the cold wether is important. There are many more things you can do other than the 5 tips, but this will help hugely for those with joint disease and the oldies in general.
