We have two spaces available for our first introduction to Mantrailing of 2025 this Sunday at 10am in Neath.
This will be our only introduction until at least the summer.

Mantrailing provides team bonding, an outlet for over arousal and mental stimulation.

WHAT IS MANTRAILING?

Simply put, mantrailing is the act of a dog following the scent of a human.

What differentiates a trailing dog from a tracking dog is that the trailing dog is allowed to follow the human scent naturally, rather than being trained in a head down or tracking position.
In other words, the dog is taught to follow the scent, but is allowed to do it instinctively rather than mechanically.

Starting the year with some socialisation for Jack.
Haven’t done as much with him as I’d like due to lockdown and focusing a lot on Ziggy but plan to get him to some detection workshops this year, hence environmentals.
He’s pretty sound but doesn’t spend a huge amount of time with the Springers.

He was an absolute idiot in The Range but calmed down and settled well in B&Q!

Due to Red and Amber weather warnings,
Mantrailing classes have been postponed ⚠️

Emails have been sent to those booked on to the introduction offering two alternative dates.

A decision will be made later today regarding Sunday 8th December Mantrailing session.

Safety is paramount and so I appreciate your understanding on this matter.

A fantastic 3 day INBTI seminar in Tamworth UK - wonderfully hosted by @carterspetservices with instructor Monica Diaz (@dreamcanmantrailing) and myself assisting. A huge well done to the 7 super dog teams! Some challenging exercises and environments but the results were fantastic. Wiggle your butt, it’s Friday! 💃🏼 Ziggy and I are away tomorrow and Sunday attending @endeavourk9 OPEX weekend. Just a quick note to mention Mantrailing sessions for July & August are fully booked! The next introduction will likely not run until the end of the year due to already limited capacity. So grateful for my dedicated teams 🫶🏼 Messages and enquiries will be replied to early next week 😊 Have a great weekend! 🐾

Starting the month off right 😍 Thank you @tailtrekker for the recommendation!

Some scent work with my boys after trailing today. I probably shouldn’t admit this I HATE using a lead 😂 As you can see I need a lot of practice but it’s a necessity particularly when you have a reactive dog or are trying to teach a specific goal. 7 hides were laid out for just over four hours, in various places, around this big rock to increase chances of success. I also like to add in uneven surfaces and a bit of climbing where I can to build confidence and see what their limits are. This was a fairly easy obstacle for them to navigate. Added distraction for Ziggy when a group dressed as the cast of Frozen turned up for a photo shoot and started singing the Elsa call 🎤 His face 😂

Looks like we’ll need to revisit our indication training now he’s absolutely mental again! 🤪🙈 Dog training is messy and a large percentage of it is going back to your foundations. Have fun with it!

Our Story...

Hello! My name is Rose and I have a passion for all things dog and nose work!

Discovery Dogs was inspired my now two year old Springer Spaniel and soul mate, Ziggy. The pink theme is for my four year old daughter (and boss) Pixie. We also have one year old ESS Bowie and 5 month old Sprocker Jack. We are all mad here!

I have been working alongside dogs for over three years participating in a variety of k9 activities, having had the opportunity to experience so many different types of dog sport I quickly realised that scent work and man trailing is where is my passion and fascination lies. Most of our spare time is spent man trailing, attending or hosting seminars or reading our favourite book, The Kocher Method. This is the method of Mantrailing we teach and use. Trailing with us is all for fun, bonding and confidence building with your pet dogs. We would one day like to gain enough experience and knowledge to become operational and assist with search and rescue.
