Today is NATIONAL BLACK CAT DAY! Adopt a black cat today! Lots to choose from at the rescues and shelters. Change a cats life today.Leon is a Tuxedo. He's my foster baby. Very affectionate. He will be up for adoption tomorrow at Pet Smart Cape Coral. Look on line at Healrescue.com there are lots of solid black to choose from. Many will be brought to Pet Smarts in Lee County for ADOPTION DAY, Saturday. Tomorrow.

My foster babies got spayed and neutered last week. Cokie is modeling her Onesie as she was licking her stitches. She got used to it quickly.

I recommend these toys. Reminder: Never leave the wand toys unattended with your cats and kittens they could get tangled or strangled. They are very good exercise and fun when used under supervision. Found on Chewy.com Excellent customer service too.

Lord have mercy, with foster kittens x four anything goes! I had to tie-down the pull cords on the lamp but they still found a more interesting feature of the lamp the shade! Will anything be left standing come adoption day.

I do Trap/ Neuter/ Return of the feral adults at least once a week. This kitty missed Feral Friday at our Humane Society. She did make it in on Monday.. Dont Ask!

Up For Adoption December 15th, 2022. 🌲🌴🌲 Hello I am a feminine girl. I don't like being roughed up. My brothers were bigger than me and the more I screamed "leave me alone" the more they played to hard. My foster mom is being real nice to me and I'm enjoying being a lap kitty with lots of soft touch and love from foster mom.

Aftermath from Hurricane IAN

We Survived A Direct Hit From Hurricane IAN! I was in the M.Bd rm. closet with 7 kittens in carriers. Saw roof shingles flying when I looked out our impact windows, tree branches cracking, I heard bang, bang, bang on our roof above me, when the insulation started floating down from the air vents I swore the roof was coming off! I switched closets with all the kittens to the kitten room that was no better, then went to the laundry room next to garage in case the roof came off. Where was Hubby sleeping in the recliner in the family room. This went most of night. Come morning lots of devastation but we are betteroff than a lot of other folks. We had a generator going. Cats and kittens a little freaked out but all will be just fine. We all survived and we had enough kitty food until Chewy could get through on the roads.

Just when you least expect it someone finds a kitten and they call you. He's underweight and has a upper respiratory infection. I guess I'm his nanny now. I had to get up in the night bottle feed , run the vaporizer and keep the heat packs going. Stay tuned to feeding time.

"KITTEN TRANSITION" Where the kittens found outside go from learning the ways of the wild taught by their mothers to transitioning to house cat after taking them "into custody". Bathing, defleaing, deworming, each kitten or litter will have special problems to make them healthy which could be specialized vet visits for diognosis and medication that the average foster doesn't have access to, socialization, testing for cat diseases, shots. Spay neuters after reaching three pounds or over depending on the vet clinics protocol for the age or weight. Rescues are always full in kitten season and in S.W. Florida it seems kitten season is about April 1st to September 1st. Kittens are really born year round but all the fertile female cats have one or two litters in spring alone. Three litters a year very possible if someone doesn't take the mother and father cat to get fixed. The cost of a feral cat spay / neuter is way cheaper in long run than buying two 18 lb bags of cat food to feed momma cat, Papa cat and now multi litters and their offspring that survived. Cats have a very tough life outdoors. Get the kittens off the street, if the rescue can't take right away it's up to you to take them in and make them friendly. A kitten that's friendly can go to adoption at any age. Should you sit back and not help those surviving kittens they will learn to be wild by 7 weeks of age and they will be very hard to make a house cat out of at any age. Go to Kitten Lady on line where there is a wealth of information on kitten care. Go to Alley Cat Allies for a wealth of information on Trap/ Neuter/ Return of the adults. There is always a need for foster parents check at your local shelter or favorite rescue how you can help. 🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛🐈Update: All the kittens except RAIN have left for adoption and have all since been adopted as of Aug. 20th, 2022.
