Tracking Dogs at work! Deer recovery tracking is legal in Missouri if the rules are followed. It is good to see dogs working and their many hours of training pay off.

TRACKING A DEER: Jefferson County Conservation Agent Lexis Riter recently received a call from Kyle Carter about using his tracking dog to help a young hunter find his deer. The Wildlife Code of Missouri prohibits the use of dogs to deer hunt, but a hunter may use a leashed dog to track wounded deer, provided the hunter has contacted an agent and exhausted all other means. Here is Jackson Overberg and his dad Nathan with Jackson’s very first deer! Congratulations to Jackson on his harvest!
