Big and small and for no cost at all, there are so many ways to show ours some love at our local shelter - send a note of gratitude! The compassion fatigue is real, especially now as they care for the sick animals in our shelter right now. And thanks to all of you for supporting them!

Well this little one took a walk without a leash and ended up needing a place to crash, so here we are.

If anyone knows the family in Lexington Park area, let me know. Will need to provide proof of ownership.

Very sweet, no injuries. Will be taking to the vet tomorrow for a chip and general welfare check. If no one comes forward we will figure out a stray hold privately since the shelter is full and then will be looking for an adoptive home. So open to fosters or potential foster to adopt situations.

All reports will be made and attempts to find the owner first and foremost.

2,421 days in the making! Welcome to the St. Mary’s Animal Adoption and Resource Center. Many people have worked very hard to make this a reality and while it is not everything we wanted, it is light years ahead of where we were when this page was started. Thank you all for continuing to support the mission to have a shelter of our own and thank you to the Commissioners for hearing us when we shared what a vital resource this would be for both animals and the humans in our county.

We believe with continuing support from the county, the rescue groups, and all of us as citizens, we can make St. Mary’s a remarkably humane place for all to thrive. the official opening is Sept. 12th, be sure to stop by and check out this amazing new facility and find out how you can stay involved!

This issue is not resolved, we have heard nothing from the county regarding a humane solution to the cats being targeted in Lexington Park. Please continue to share and write your letters to the Commissioners.

A separate page has been started to share information and updates about these cats. Please follow:

Friends, there is an urgent matter that needs your support. Dozens and dozens of cats will be killed in the coming weeks if you do not step up to share your support of a more humane alternative in St. Mary's County.

These cats have not caused any harm nor are they a threat to humans. They have lived their lives in a managed colony for nearly a decade and that is now being threatened to ensure they do not pose a future theoretical threat to park attendees.

Please see my letter attached for more information and if you believe in TNR please write to the Commissioners of St. Mary's County to share your voice on this matter.

When you’re ready, send your email to the Commissioners’ Group Email: [email protected]

If you prefer mail, you can send a letter addressed to each individual commissioner and mail to
PO Box 653, Leonardtown, Maryland 20650:
Commissioner President Randy Guy
Commissioner John O’Connor
Commissioner Todd Morgan
Commissioner Mike Hewitt
Commissioner Eric Colvin

Thank you for speaking out for animals in your community!
