I recently noticed some ads from breeders selling Guyana locale Epicrates maurus, at inflated prices that clearly were not. Buyers beware. If the parents do not have clearly retained markings as adults and the parents/babies do not have the characteristic dark/light lateral lines running from just behind the head to tail, they are not Guyana. This locality is very distinctly different in appearance from a standard E. maurus (even with all the pattern variations found in this species)

2nd litter of dh snow x dh snow CRBs on the ground. Disappointing but still no visual snows, however we did get two distinct variations of anery (ghost) in this litter. One looks like the typical silvery coloration and the others look analogous to a t+ albino. Once they reach the yearling stage both look the same. I suspect the “t+” looking animals are probably het anery, as with many other color morphs in CRB hets tend to look different. Still a very neat project and we’re getting close to breeding our first generation of visual pos hets.

Double het snow CRB litter is starting to shed and will be ready to go at Daytona. This 66% dh has striping and thick bold markings. We’ll be bringing some captive bred white lips as well!

Small, respectable litter of t-albinos, paradigms and parahets born today!

DH Snow pairing litter born last night just before bed. 3rd litter with this pairing and still have yet to beat the 1 in 64 odds. We do however have visual albinos and anerys that are 66% pos het for the complimentary traits that will be ready to breed in 2025. Also have one more gravid female due soon.
Some very cool oddballs in this litter as well as a few that picked up a trait from momma. “Star” shaped pupils. Around half of her babies have them 🤩

Curious to see how this oddball anery from our first double het snow pairing looks after another year. So far it has retained to golden color in its saddles & striping giving an odd compliment to the silvery base coloration. This one is highly suspected of being het T- albino as well due to the odd coloration it exhibited as a baby and the striping.

Third attempt with a double het snow pairing. Fourth is still paired, but starting to ride the heat and male will be pulled soon. This girl is getting wide and should be close to popping soon! No snows from the first two pairings a couple of years ago, but we got some unique oddballs from it that we held back. Neat project with about ten years in!

Behaviors I look for and like to see when cleaning enclosures while breeding Rainbows…
Animals lying in close proximity to one another or curled up together. Tail locks ( male’s tail wrapped around the female’s) Females swelling up (not food bumps), isolating from the male & refusing meals, then finally digging down to the heat source and curling up in a tight ball. Once they start the relax again you’re getting close 😀
