Let’s talk about mane and tail preparednesss going into the 2024 show season. Similarity to how you wouldn’t show up with a unclipped horse or dirty tack, don’t come to the horse show with a mane that hasn’t been touched for months.
In the picture below thanks to Armour Equine Services LLC, you can see examples of improper and properly pulled manes. If you are unsure of how I or another braider prefer the manes please ask in advance. There are many resources from my incredibly talented colleagues that I can share with you on how to get a mane ready at home. These do not include scissors or solo combs.
It is not fair to us when we have a list full of clients to arrive to 2x the hair because you “left it for us to do what we want to it”. What that says to me is that the mane needs a proper pull which I believe is unfair to do to the horse than expect to it to stand well after to be braided. Moving forward, unprepared manes will be subject to additional costs.
Tails should be scrubbed to the tail bone and properly brushed through, without the use of conditioner, detangler, or shine products. No tails will be braided without an ace bandage being provided. I will not wrap a tail with vet wrap. Mane should also be properly shampooed and rinsed thoroughly.
In the end, these specificities are for the welfare of the horse and to provide you with the highest quality service possible. I appreciate everyone who trusts me with their horses and look forward to working with you all this season.
