Do you like my new flak vest?
It is with a heavy heart that I write this post about the loss of our furbaby, (Ba)Nana. She braved through the toughest two months of her life and fought harder than any human I’ve ever seen. We adopted her and Monkey from Dog Bless You Rescue, and from the moment we brought her home, she was an alpha with the bravest personality, even when deep down inside, she was worried about everything.
(Ba)Nana was a digger and loved to help out in the garden, and as Fur dad would say, “dig to China.” She was protective of our home, and no airplane, bird, or creature was to come into our space without her approval. She learned to sit up on her hind legs to show her sweet face, so we “had to” give her a treat, and she taught us where to pet her in the mornings.
(Ba)Nana was an expert at holding a staring contest, and she always won. She was anal about stepping on the same steps every day to go downstairs for a wee, and she shared her breath with you so you’d know what she had for food last night.
(Ba)Nana had been through a lot and it was remarkable how she held herself together for two months with all that she had to go through. She taught us so much about being true to who you are, no matter what, being brave, and sharing your vulnerabilities when it was most needed because we are here to take some of her fears away.
We are glad (Ba)Nana is no longer in pain, but it still hurts to say goodbye to our furbaby. She touched so many lives and will forever be remembered for her quirky ways and her feisty personality that made her special in our hearts. Rest in peace, (Ba)Nana, and know that you will always be loved and missed. xoxo , Furdad, mom and Monkey.
