My story
I was born on Sept. 9th, 2013 and am a light red AKC Siberian Husky from Pennsylvania. My full name is Princess Onoko and I was named for a Native American Princess who allegedly died at Hatchett Falls near the town now known as Jim Thorpe, PA. It’s said that the spirit of Onoko haunts the Falls, on the east side of Broad Mountain. My family thought my coloring reminded them a lot of the view in fall from the top of those falls: rolling mountainous foliage and my eyes the color of the sun hitting the curtain of the waterfall.
I love adventures, and hiking especially. My family builds at least one vacation a year around me and one of our favorite places to hike is in Acadia National Park. ANP is one of the only dog friendly national parks in America and the small towns on Mount Desert Island are also dog friendly. I even received my Acadia Bark Ranger tags and certificate on my last visit!
My temperament: my family describes me as a sweetheart. I love people (especially little kids) and I love other dogs, too. I also have four cat siblings. Once I view another animal as part of my pack, I can easily place my high husky prey drive on the back burner. But, I have been known to kill a possum or mole, though I’m never encouraged to do so. If I could catch a squirrel, I’d probably like one of those, too. Oh, and I once had a bad encounter with a stab rabbit (my family called it a porcupine). I don’t jump on people, but I will wiggle hug against your legs if I like you. I’m always up for pets and belly rubs, by my family likes you to ask permission first. I’m always leashed for my own safety and other people and doggos on the trail.
Please like and follow my page to see photos of my adventures, from various points of interest in Pennsylvania, but also as we hike in other states. Aside from Pennsylvania, I’ve also hiked in Maryland, Maine, Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. I hope to add more states to that list! Woooooo woooooo!!
