Hudson is approximately one and half, 45 -50 pounds and is a super cute Retriever mix. He is a strong, and playful boy that has been with us for 10 months.

He is having a hard time at the kennel but for the few days that he was in a home, he did extremely well. The constant barking and noises at the kennel are causing poor Hudson to feel stressed and anxious. We would really love to get him into a foster home until he finds his permanent home.

When in a home, Hudson is pretty great! He is house trained, respects the rules and does not get into things like food or cords. He is so happy to be in a home that he doesn’t try to run away, even if the door is left open. Hudson loves to cuddle and play and is desperately craving love and cuddles.

He does well with most dogs, but we would recommend a mindful, controlled introduction to ensure a successful adjustment.
Hudson can get spooked easily by new sounds, but once he is introduced to the new sound or situation, he adjusts quickly. He is a curious pup who is ready to explore the world once he has a sense of safety. Please take him home for the Holidays!

Transport arrived today from Alabama and two dogs on board have tested positive for heartworms. Karmen is 2yrs old and Lena is only 8 months old! Most of the shelters we work with do not test for heartworms, so it's the luck of the draw.

However, K-9 Lifesavers is known for taking in dogs that have in fact tested positive. This is a curable disease and a dog should not have to be euthanized because of it!

WE HAVE BABIES!

We were surprised when Curly Maybelle arrived pregnant! We got her into a foster home asap and less than an hour later she gave birth! She is now the mama to 4 boys and 3 girls! These little nuggets are only 11 days old!

Meet Baby Pinky! This sweet girl came to us in terrible condition. She was emaciated and covered with mange (which has been treated and not contagious). She is a 3 month old lab mix, who loves people and other dogs. Jenny is extremely friendly and loves people and other dogs, just look at that smile! This pretty girl has [somehow 🤯] been with us for a year this month and ready to find her forever home of her own! She is 4-5 years old and from a Tennessee shelter. Who we are and what we do

K-9 Lifesavers is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3), private non-profit rescue group dedicated to saving the lives of homeless and abandoned dogs from high-kill shelters and other high-risk situations. We rescue at risk dogs from throughout the southern US, provide emergency health care and screening, then vet, vaccinate, spay/neuter and work to place them in loving, forever homes. Even for healthy dogs, rescue costs add up quickly. We exist solely on donations and rely on fundraising and giving events to continue our mission. Please consider making a donation, one time or recurring, to support our work—it’s not possible without you and no amount is too small! In just the past year we have placed over 800 dogs in their forever homes and have provided heart worm treatment for over 100 dogs. Each month we incur the cost of at least one unplanned surgery and make weekly visits to the emergency vet to treat a wide range of unforeseen issues. Please consider visiting our critical care page to help those pups in need of some extra care and support.
