We went for a walk, Maud and I (Taffy stayed home to mind the fort). The Cateran Trail: 5 days; 64 miles; 3 nights in the tent and one in an hotel. We're both a lot fitter than we were a week ago.

We went to check on the Land Of Our Fathers last week. It seems to be doing okay. Didn't see any other welshies though.

A day to celebrate - Bobby having passed a thorough behaviour test earlier in the week, today had his eyes tested and his hips and elbows x-rayed and all was well! Which means that nothing now stands in the way of his progress towards official Assistance Dog status. A huge relief all round!

Bit of an unusual way to spend a Thursday morning; Maud and I were being guinea pigs for a research project entitled "Neural basis of Inter-Species Communication". Taffy says she's been controlling my thoughts for years, she doesn't see what all the fuss was about.
(What they're actually looking at is whether they can identify the same kind of synchrony between dogs and owners as is found between mothers and infants. It was an interesting morning - and I daresay Maud and I will eventually manage to get the gel out of our hair!)

Bit of back-to-basics training this evening for Maud. We love our Wednesday "Labrador club" session - but it's nice to be out with other spaniels sometimes too. Luckily we pretty much dodged the rain!

We tried this out for the first time on Saturday and we'll definitely be going again. Maud was the only minority breed spaniel there, though. Anyone fancy joining us?

Bit of a family outing yesterday, with both Arnold and Winnie. The pups hadn't seen one another since they left home back in September, and they had a lovely time playing together.

I always love a chance to catch up with one of our pups - but Bobby is a bit extra-special, having stayed with us until he was 5 months old. We had a happy day at the Keukenhof, and now everyone is pretty tired.

It's really lovely to have 2 of Maud's puppies living relatively locally. Today we met up with Arnold for a thoroughly jolly hour in the Mouse Field. A satisfactorily muddy outing.
You will see from the photo that Arnold's approach to mousing is still a bit amateurish. He'll learn.

He ain't heavy, he's....
Taffy's little brother Harvey (same parents, subsequent litter) has been with us for the day. It's been surprisingly peaceful (especially given the hormonal state of the younger generation - luckily H no longer has the, ahem, equipment to cause problems!)

Went to tea with the Echophy boys. Think they were pleased to see the matriarchy even though we wouldn't let them on their own chair.

Today's Parkour crew.

🖤 1 year old Ned.
Ned is learning to use his brain, and look before he leaps. He loves to bounce like Tigger so the parkour really helps him to focus, be steady and think about what he's doing.

🤎 2 year old Bailey.
Bailey has his anxieties so the parkour helps with his confidence, his trust and partnership with his owner, Claudia, and to be around other dogs in a calm and controlled environment.

🧡 12, almost 13 year old Taffy.
Parkour is great to keep Taffy strong and supple in her senior years. It also gives some quality time together with her owner, Laura, as sometimes the younger generation steal the limelight.

Why not start 2024 with some parkour?

We welcome all ages and abilities and ensure that no dog is pushed too far, too soon.

Building confidence and trust, and having fun together are key. If you are relaxed and happy, your dog will be too.
