HEAL Canine Cancer Alternatives An alternative resource for people whose dogs have been diagnosed with cancer. For those who want to improve their dog's quality of life & hopefully extend

This page is intended to be an alternative resource for people whose dogs have been diagnosed with cancer. It is for those who want to improve their dog's quality of life and hopefully, extend it. My research into alternative treatments for cancer was initiated by two almost-simultaneous events: I read an article by the American Veterinary Medical Association; and my little ChiWeenie had a bump re

moved from under his tail which turned out to be a carcinoma. I live in the Lake Tahoe/Reno area and there is NO canine oncology center here. His vet recommended that I take him to UC Davis, which is a 3+ hour drive...and I've had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for 25 years. So that wasn't an option. Then I found out how much chemotherapy and radiation COST. Even with pet insurance, that was WAY out of my league. So I started researching alternative treatments for cancer. And with a little help from my friends (who sent me articles and links to alternative supplements), I came up with a treatment protocol that sounded like it would WORK. But to be sure, I searched and googled until I found out how to locate a holistic vet in my area. And I found one up in Lake Tahoe. She's also an acupuncturist and her support has been invaluable to Badger's recovery. On this page, I will outline the supplements I use and I'll give links to the lowest-cost resources. I'll post links to articles as I become aware of them. And I invite both questions and success stories from dog owners. I decided to use the acronym HEAL, which stands for Helping Every Animal Live, as a positive affirmation that we CAN help our canine family members live a better quality of life...and, hopefully, a LONGER life...utilizing the ever-increasing range of alternative therapies.

Hi All:

Yes, it's me, the "author" of this page. I'm actually 74 years old and Social Security is my only income. I don't have any "extra income" but 3 months ago, Billy split his lip "fighting" at the fence with the dog next door. He has what is called "barrier aggression" and when the next-door dog is out, he slams his face against the wood fence, trying to get "at him". I took him to the same vet that I've taken all my dogs for the last 14 years but, to my surprise, the bill for three stitches came to $750! I'm still paying off my sky-high gas bill from last Winter and the vet's new office manager did not want to give me a payment agreement; but she finally agreed that I could pay $150/mo. until it is paid off. This has been such a huge drain on my finances that it has been impossible to keep up with my cable bills AND buy FOOD.

I've been disabled for 34 years so my life is pretty-much comprised of the internet and and watching TV. (When I turned 65, my long-term disability income contract ended, cutting my income in HALF.)

As of this writing, I'm $125 short of what I need to pay the cable company before TOMORROW to keep my TV and internet from being shut OFF. I also need about $30 for food. I spend less than $100 per week for food (usually, about $65) but, at this moment, I don't even have THAT.

I can't use PayPal because I can't transfer to my bank acct. without being online. But you can Zelle me at my email address, below. If you do make a contribution, please send me a private message with your email address so that I can personally thank you. I've never asked for any money for sharing my research but if any of my recipes and/or product links have helped extend your dog's life, please consider making a donation.

Badger's vet gave him a life expectancy of 6 to 9 months after she removed the carcinoma from under his tail. But using the protocol outlined on this page, Badger lived, happily and healthy, for SIX YEARS and nine months! I will always be grateful for that precious extra time with my babyboy. And I thank you, in advance, for any help you can give me.

And by the way, until I can devise a better method of keeping Billy away from the fence, I take him out on a leash ... EVERY time.😣

---------------------------- NOTICE ---------------------------

When I came over here to find something specific, I became aware that I need to do more "managing". Since my recipes never change, I haven't done a lot of management. So, I apologize if you have needed more information and I didn't respond in a timely manner. OF COURSE, if your dog has cancer, you have NO TIME TO WASTE! With that in mind, if you have an URGENT question, please text me at
(707) 616-1698 and start your text with these words: "Canine Cancer Question". I check my texts several times a day.

Some of my posts have "lost" their photos. I may not have time to delete the ones that are no longer active, so if you're interested in an article, go ahead and click to find out. I am, however, removing all duplicate posts. Links from The Dog Food Advisor and The Honest Kitchen should all be good, photo or not.

Also, I thought I had my recipe for Cannabis Coconut Oil "pinned", but I did NOT. I had to search a long way down the page to find it. So I'm copying it here and I will "pin" it to the top of the page. Again, please accept my most heartfelt apologies if you have needed something and I didn't reply.

------------- How to Make Cannabis Coconut Oil --------------

You'll need a small slow cooker, if you don't already have one. Walmart has one for $10.00.

* 42 oz. Organic Coconut Oil -- Half of the big jar sold at Costco.
Note: If you don't get your coconut oil from Costco, be sure it says "Raw" or "Unrefined". That will make a higher quality medicine.

* 16 g. Cannabis -- mix of buds, larger leaves & small bud stems.
Note: If part of your dry material is buds, break them up into tiny buds and include the stems.

* 1-2 Tbsp. filtered water

* Melt the coconut oil in the slow cooker at High setting.
* Add dry cannabis & stir every hour or two.
* After the first couple of hours, stir in a small amount of filtered water. Just a couple of tablespoons. It will bubble up A LOT, so stir until the bubbles subside. This step draws the THC and CBD out of the dry material and increases the oil's potency. (If it's dangerously close to boiling over, put a wooden spoon across the top of the pot to stop it.)

* Let cook for 15 hours, stirring occasionally.
* Turn off the slow cooker and let cool. You can actually let it "rest" for up to eight hours, if you're pressed for time.
* Strain through cheesecloth into a glass or sturdy plastic container. Ensure that there is NO dry material left in the oil as, over time, it will mold.
* Refrigerate until it hardens. Then you can take it out and keep it in a cabinet during the winter or in an air conditioned home during the summer. It will be easier to "dispense" at room temperature.

I was just adding a bit to this post and re-read all of the comments and replies. The additional stuff that people have added into the process really makes the process MUCH too complicated. I guess it's really easier than some people want it to be.

Just keep on keepin' on! And I wish GOOD HEALTH and a LONG LIFE for your precious pups!

I came across a video about this product "by accident". I almost *never* watch all of those sales videos but this one started out with TRUTHS: Chemical flea collars are POISON. Topically applied flea medications go *into your dog's bloodstream". And either of those amount to giving poison to your dog which can have deleterious effects which are as radical as seizures, or even DEATH.

I'm fortunate that I live in a high elevation, VERY DRY, climate in which fleas can't survive. So I don't have to use ANY flea medications. But if I did, keeping in mind that I am an advocate for the healing powers of Essential Oils, this is a product that I would *certainly* buy. It's a "tag" that goes on your dog's collar, the EOs don't come in contact with your dog's skin, it's waterproof, and it lasts for a YEAR. Essential Oils Lemon, Camphor, Peppermint, Citronella, Mulberry and Lavender are dispersed via a micronized "mist". After watching the video and reading the details, this is one product that I can recommend even *wiithout* having used it!

I haven't tried this but it has two of the ingredients that I gave Badger that extended HIS life: medicinal mushrooms and turmeric. If I had a dog that was currently fighting cancer, I WOULD try it.

I've just realized that my readers have to do a lot of scrolling to put together my entire anti-cancer protocol. So, right here, I'm gonna boil it all down for you:

* FIRST ... Take your dog to a holistic vet. Acupuncture is recommended if your holiisic vet makes it available. Badger's vet stressed that the MOST effective approach is to build your dog's immune system so that IT can fight the cancer. You can find one in your area at this site: https://www.ahvma.org/find-a-holistic-veterinarian/ #!directory/map/ord=lnm
* Raw diet ... There are a lot of options on the market now. I gave Badger Sojo's and Honest Kitchen raw dehydrated meals.
* Medicinal Mushrooms ... I used the ones from mycoformulas.com Immune Defense. Lately, the Grocery Outlet has had a similar combination for sale.
* Curcumin or Golden Paste ... Made with organic Turmeric. The recipe is farther down the page.
* CBD oil (available nationwide online) or CBD/THC coconut oil (recipe farther down the page.)
* For MAST cell tumors ... Apply diluted Frankincense oil, gently. Don't disturb the tumor. vitalityextracts.com has excellent pricing on Frankincense oil.

This is my little cancer survivor, Badger. The vet who removed his carcinoma gave him 6 to 9 months to live. Following my protocol, he lived happily and healthily for six YEARS and nine months.

I SAW THIS ON QUORA ...

If you spoil a puppy instead of giving it the proper training, will it end up not listening to you?

Let me tell you a story.

Since I was able to read, I have been studying Dogs. Where other Children were perhaps reading children’s story books or Dr. Seuss, I was deep into the world of Dog Anatomy, Behaviour, and Training.

I adored Dogs of every shape and size but I wholeheartedly believed that babying and spoiling Dogs literally spoiled and ruined them.

Which is very much why I did not like Chihuahuas or any toy breed for that matter. However, I was utterly desperate for any other kind of Dog because I had always been denied one.

Then as my 13th Birthday was approaching I was in a very dark place but that’s another story for another time. I walked downstairs to find this golden ball of pure light, a little fluffy Chihuahua named Jamie.

He wasn’t yappy, nippy, or spoiled. In fact, he was terribly abused, afraid, and in so much pain. I had no idea what to do with him, until I realised I was those exact same things.

I, of course, tried all those strict training techniques but Jamie would only cower away and disregard any technique I tried. I did not want this, I wanted learning and training to be something he enjoyed, I wanted to show him that not everyone was cruel and not everything was a trick to hurt him more.

So, I forgot all my research and [did] things a whole different way, my way. I had all the knowledge to train him on my own but decided I would take a much gentler and loving approach.

He had saved me and I, in return, wanted to save him so anything that managed to make his little broken heart happy, I gave him.

So, do I spoil him? Yes, I absolutely do.

Has this caused him to not learn nor listen to me? Definitely not.

I’m more than proud to say that my gorgeous little Prince knows every basic command, walks on the lead like a dream, does agility fabulously, and finally? He can dance! That’s right! My abused and terrified little boy now dances confidently in front of any crowd.

I was incredibly fortunate to be able to do this all on my own but I’d suggest puppy classes for any puppy if even only for socialisation purposes!

In truth ‘spoiling’ a Dog has no effect on their training, whatsoever. I wholeheartedly believe that if you give a Dog your love, they will give you an immeasurable amount back.

Will training be difficult? More than likely yes, whether you spoil your dog or not. But, the rewarding feeling when your pup finally even just sits for the first time is so unbelievably worth it!

Good Luck with your Puppy! I hope you have Beautiful Adventures together! Jamie and I send our Love x

Megan Marie, IMO, a little training still DOES give the dog "structure" and calms them. Just like kids, dogs need structure.~K

I got my dog when I was just 19 years old and a single mother of 1.

I kept my dog.

I kept my dog even though I moved into an apartment and had to pay a $500 pet fee.

I kept my dog when my boyfriend and I broke up and he kept the apartment even though my new place didn't allow dogs.

I kept my dog when I ultimately had to move back in with my parents and she also was not allowed there.

I kept my dog when I had my second child. I kept my dog when his father put all of us through hell and none of us had anywhere to go.

I kept my dog when I had a penny to my name and we all ate nothing but buttered noodles for dinner.

Ten years later I STILL have my dog because she is the very start of the huge family that we now have.

Even though she's getting slow, eating less and turning grey I STILL HAVE MY DOG. I'm tired of hearing and reading about posts that say "getting rid of them because they don't like my new puppy" or "I want a new dog".

Commitment is commitment! For LIFE!

I see some of the BEST dog stuff on Quora. Unfortunately, I can't share directly from there to FB so I copy the text and save the pic so I can share with my friends and family. This is today's "capture". And, as I always say to those who grieve, they ALWAYS come back to make sure WE'RE OK.

Oreo had just passed away the night before . I took Mungo out after work for a hike to enjoy the beautiful Autumn day. My mind was consumed with grief and overwhelmed with the pain of Oreo's passing. I stopped to sit, take in the peace, and collect myself and thoughts.

As we sat there listening to the movement of the breeze and noise of the birds, I noticed Mungo looking up. He had never done this and he's never done it since, but at that moment, he was looking up for a good five minutes. I snapped this picture because at that moment, I do believe his brother was with us, comforting us, and letting his brother know he was ok and still near.......❤️

FYI ... They mentioned "grain-free dog foods causing heart disease". After researching, it was determined that heart disease is a concern for foods in which the first ingredient is PEAS. And, I believe, potatoes. You can Google it for more up-to-date information.

----- ANIMAL COMMUNICATION -----

This afternoon, I received a call from an old friend wanting me to communicate with her sick dog. 35 Years ago, I learned to communicate with animals from Penelope Smith, the trailblazer in animal communication and author of the book, "Animal Talk". People have engaged my service for their dogs who have cancer, have had surgery, are healing, are ready to "cross over", or just to find out how their pet feels about ... well, anything. Sometimes, it's reassuring just to "talk" with your dog, whether they are here or have crossed over.

With that in mind, I am now offering my services. In my experience, dogs and horses are more receptive to communicating telepathically. Some cats are "aloof" and feel intruded upon and birds are generally too "flighty" (no pun intended) and may respond only with single words. Since I'm so bonded with dogs, I get the best results with them. Horses, unless they've been abused, most often respond with, "I'm fine. Life is good". They're generally happy and peaceful which is why autistic children do so well with "equine therapy". People "on the spectrum" may not be able to tell you, but many times, they naturally communicate telepathically with horses.

I am available for hour and half-hour sessions from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Pacific Time, Monday through Friday and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturdays. I accept PayPal and Zelle. If you would like to book an appointment with me, please text me at (707) 616-1698. (If you need a 1PM appointment any day, it's best to set it up the previous evening.) Don't message me here. I might not see it. I look forward to being of service to you and your beloved.
