We kept UPS hopping this week, with kefir going a lot of directions. Glad to see it made it to Chicago before these two started a revolt! Thanks for the pic MacKenzie, and we are so happy they are loving it!

It's not just for pets! This is Julie. Julie just had her first calf about 10 days ago. It was a difficult birth, in July weather, in Northern Indiana. Anyone who has cared for livestock will tell you those 3 are a scary combination. Yesterday, Julie was off....way off. Didn't eat a bite of feed, eyes sunk in, difficult breathing, all the symptoms of a very sick cow. Last night I gave her 1/2 gallon of Champions Choice right down her throat. No other medications. This morning Julie ate all her feed, was trying to steal feed from her neighbors, is bright eyed, and is back to herself. Love this stuff.

Meet Nika. We were honored when this absolutely stunning South African Boerboel stopped in to meet the cows, who make her kefir this evening. Thanks for bringing her by Ben and Amy!

Was another long Thursday night in the pasteurizer room. The milk from our Thursday evening milking traveled a bit over 15 feet to our pasteurizer. The milk was then heated to 145 degrees, and held at that temperature for 30 minutes. This is called low temperature, vat pasteurization. The milk was then cooled to 80, our culture was added and things were buttoned up for the night. This evening we will cool the kefir to 39 degrees, bottle it, and that is the kefir that will be available at the Goshen Farmers Market tomorrow. If someone tells you they are as farm fresh as we are, I would probably fact check them. See you tomorrow!

Our Story

Champions Choice is what happens when visions become real. All of the milk used in our kefir comes from the herd of Sunrose Holsteins (Bruce and Tricia Gingerich). The milk only travels 17 feet from the cow, to the pasteurizer, making it the most farm fresh product you will find. We love our cows, we love our dogs, and the two are a match made in heaven. Even though we developed Champions Choice for our beloved Blissful Saints, we are happy to share it with you!
