Reese came in with ringworm and a bad upper respiratory infection. She had her left eye enucleated and she's been treated for both her ailments. She's all better and ready to go home!

We open at noon today!

Did you know we treat many common illnesses on site?
We have isolation pods for upper respiratory infections, ringworm, panleuk, and parvo! We have separate medical pods for dogs and cats with non-contagious ailments.

We also keep new stray dogs in a separate pod from the general public to limit the possibility of new illness spreading throughout the shelter.

While our adoption pods are not full right now, we do have a maximum capacity for care and how many stray dogs we can intake in a day.

Shout out to our morning crew who deep cleaned and sanitized B-pod today! Cleaning and sanitizing is an ongoing part of care in our facility both during and after an animal's stay here. But today, with the shelter closed, our staff was able to move the dogs into other kennels to get the entire pod extra s**c and span!

In addition to the floors and walls, all the grates were removed and the drains were power washed. Kennel repairs were done as well.

If you see a shelter technician during your visit, thank them for all the hard work they do to care for the animals staying at SCRAPS.

We love getting updates like this!

"Hi! I had the pleasure of adopting one of your oldest residents in December— Zeke.
Zeke is incredibly strong, loud, drools, chews everything he can find, was not potty trained— and I love him to pieces!!!!
My other two large SCRAPS dogs adopted at different times over my two years in Spokane love Zeke, as do I.
I know Zeke had been returned from a previous adoption. I know he was a favorite of your volunteers and vet techs so please let them know he has a very large fenced backyard that he digs in, rolls around in, and sprints back and forth in to happy exhaustion. He endlessly watches the deer and turkey that eat the corn on the other side of the back fence.
Zeke’s eyes are still red from his surgery but he seems to not be bothered.
Zeke has a forever home with this old woman and my other two forever loves and I can’t wait for drier weather so we can jog together."
