A man who was arrested with over 100 dogs and equipment at his Georgia home got the maximum sentence last week. Prosecutors hope it sheds light on the prevalence of dogfighting, a felony in the U.S.

Meet our newest girl, Jujubee! She's actually been with us for a little while. She came to us partially paralyzed but she's regaining function and up and walking (like a drunken sailor 🤣). She remains incontinent...but what's a little random p**p and p*e when you're this cute? She has a broken hip and a broken tail but not a broken spirit! She is pure joy!

Hers is a face only a mother could love. So just call us mom!
She's actually the cutest girl and one of the most ridiculously quirky dogs we've ever met.
Sometimes when we run out of space for the big kids, we can still find a spot for a little. This sweet girl was suspected to have been hit by a car, suffering head trauma. She has some pretty substantial neurological impacts but is a happy, hoppy, wobbly honorary pit bull. Meet Cathy aka Fizzy ❤️

For those who have been with us since the early days, you may remember this silly poem. Today we let our sweet Ash go. It was time, he let us know...but our hearts are so heavy. He was a sanctuary dog with us only because his beloved sister Annie would have been, and remains, impossible to place. He was perfect. She...not so much. But he loved her so very much. We could not separate them. Our hearts break to lose him and we worry about Annie's fragile heart in the future. After 16 years, this work still drops you to your knees sometimes. Every time. Sleep peacefully sweet Ash. We, and Annie, will love you always. 🩷

Twas the night before Christmas and all throughout Mayday
Our hearts were aching for dogs deemed "not worth saving"
We rushed down to county and what did we find?
Two beautiful babies...frightened and blind
We scooped them up into loving arms
We took them home and learned their charms
The road ahead will be tough and long
But we, and they, are very strong
Born without eyes, we will ensure they see
The love and joy this world can be.

✔️ Do you have a list of nearby shelters and emergency vets just in case they are needed?
Prepare now to keep your pets safe this New Year's Eve!

Our hearts are so full to finally announce that our distinguished gentleman, Grommet, has been adopted by our very own Mayday volunteer, Stephanie. These two are such a perfect match. We couldn't have wished for a better fit for this sweet boy. Congrats, Stephanie and Grommet! May you have many adventures together! ❤️
