Our sweet boy Boo Berry went to the eye specialist last Friday and the visit clearly stressed him out 🤣 jk. This boy is pure happiness 24x7. Vet says his partial blindness is caused by a past inflammation which could be from his tick fever or another source. We are already treating his tick fever and we are now adding eye drops and an eye ointment as well. He will likely be on the drops and ointment very long term. Best case scenario we may see some improvement but primary goal is to stop things from progressing further. Right now he has partial vision and navigates nearly as well as a fully sighted dog.

He might just be the cutest, sweetest dog on the planet! He's fighting off tick fever and he's partially blind but remains the happiest, tail wagging-est boy in the world! We are devastated to share that our sweet little bird Wren gained her wings tonight. Despite her battle with severe Valley Fever she's never really known a down day since we got it under control shortly after taking her in. Her overall medical and behavioral needs made her not the most adoptable dog but we were so happy for the privilege of providing her with a lifetime of care. Last night she started showing signs of stomach distension and severe pain in her abdomen. After diagnostics today it was discovered that she had cancerous masses throughout her liver. Even with aggressive treatment her odds of survival were very small and with no way to effectively control her pain outside of continual hospitalization we wrapped her in our arms and let her go. Our hearts are breaking. These pictures were taken just days ago when she was playing with her newfound friend, Lily. Fly free sweet Wren. We were beyond blessed that you landed in our lives and we will miss you always. Wrensdays will never be the same. 💔

Mayday volunteers really stepped up this weekend! Boone and Happy went for a swim while Lucy and Dot showed off some of their training in progress at an obedience class. We will do anything for these special pups! ❤️

July 4th Checklist
✔️ Are your gates and fences secure?
✔️ Do you have padlocks on all gates?
✔️ Did you exercise your pets early in the day?
✔️ Are your pets microchipped?
✔️ Are your pets wearing collars and tags with your contact info?
✔️ Do you have recent pictures of your pets?
✔️ Do you have a secure, INDOOR space for your pets?
✔️ Do you have a leash at the ready for any potty breaks during peak firework times (to be used even when in a fenced yard)?
✔️ Depending on your pets' level of anxiety do you have tools available to help like ThunderWorks, Relax My Dog, iCalmPet, Sileo, BlackWing Farms etc.?
✔️ Do you have a list of nearby shelters and emergency vets just in case they are needed?
Remember, fireworks could happen anytime in the week before or after the actual holiday. Prepare now to keep your pets safe this 4th of July!
