Happy Jack Cats, Inc.

Happy Jack Cats, Inc. We provide foster homes for community kittens, rehab them, & find permanent homes for them. Indoor homes only. No declawing. We Save Kittens! Throwaway kittens!

All animals are spayed/neutered, FIV/FeLV tested, get age appropriate vaccines, are microchipped, and treated for parasites. The people (and Jack) at Happy Jack Cats, Inc., an Idaho Nonprofit Organization, have found that there is one area of animal rescue that is not addressed by anyone in our community. That is the problem of throwaway kittens. So we are doing something aBout it. What a terrible

concept, but its literally true. These are the kittens the are abandoned, abused by cruel people, born to stray mothers in sheds and woodpiles, used as snake food or dog bait, orphaned when their mothers are hit by cars, and just plain die of hunger and exposure. Most throw away kittens have brutal backstories, and we have seen some awful things. No matter how you feel about cats, this is a community problem and, in our eyes a community disgrace, because these babies are the most innocent of the innocent. Here’s how we are dealing with it. Kittens come to us in various ways. One common story is, “ I found this little kitten. Its very young, and I don’t know what to do”. Okay. Bring it to us. We do know what to do. It doesn’t really matter how the kittens come to us. They just come. These little ones are so happy to be in a warm room, with a soft blanket to sleep on, and wonder of wonders, plenty of food. Heaven! After each kitten is parasite free, socialized, and spayed or neutered, we find the best possible adoptive home for her or him. We screen all prospective adopters. Some of our kittens are helping out persons with developmental disabilities. At least two of our cats work with professional therapists. Some kittens are the companions of the elderly, and others are playmates for children. Often Happy Jack’s kittens ease the pain of a beloved pet’s dying by filling that empty spot, and others comfort someone who is simply lonely. Some adopters just want a beautiful, affectionate creature to share their home. There are as many reasons for adopting a kitten, as there are adopters. We thought we are just saving kittens, but, as it turns out, we help people too. Remember these are the throw aways. What a terrible waste? We charge the new pet owner a re-homing fee to help defray the cost of the animal’s care, but its never enough. That’s where the community comes in. That’s you. Please help us by donating a fortune to Happy Jack Cats, Inc. Okay, if you don’t have a fortune, how about whatever you feel comfortable with. We appreciate every penny. It breaks our hearts to have to turn any of these babies away because of lack of funds. Adopt Kenny. Kenny is an active kitten. Let me say that one more time, Kenny is an ACTIVE kitten.
He sleeps hard, he plays hard and he loves hard. And he eats....a lot!
He will need a lot of attention/stimulation to keep him from turning to a life of crime.
With that caveat, he is adorable, sweet, soft and has a 2 tone purr that shakes the house. He is a Mackerel Tabby with white markings. His coat pattern is called Ticking. He has stripes, but they are not connected, so they look like spots. He even has a pattern on his shoulders that look like Owl eyes.
His eye color is sometimes dark green or bottle green. Very unusual.
Kenny gets along well with the other cats and is good with our dogs.
If you would like to meet Kenny, follow this link to our website adoption page and fill out an application: https://happyjackcats.org/adopt

Update on Malone: Don’t bother him! He’s taking a much deserved nap. He’s resting up from his last nap. Every handsome, orange cat needs his beauty sleep, and Malone is—without a doubt—handsome. Orange kittens are always easy to home when we offer them for adoption. Maybe it’s nostalgia or tradition, but orange cats are special to many people. Hang in there Malone. Your’s is a hard life.

Olivia is on our minds. I’ve been posting a lot of updates this morning. They are some of the lucky ones that were adopted by loving families. There is even a king among them (King Louie.) My question for you is, why is our little princess, Olivia, still homeless? She’s beautiful, sweet, and everything a princess should be. Look at those whiskers! Magnificent. Go to https://happyjackcats.org/adopt and fill out application. You really, really need a princess in your life.

Update on Louie. Not just Louie, but King Louie, no less! He’s pictiured here sucking up the adoration that is his due. He looks like he might be over-enjoying his meals on a regular basis, but then he is the king of his house—and probably the people in it—so he is entitled to a big meal now and then. No mice, if you please!

Update on Nero: we don’t know the particulars about Nero except the obvious. He—and like most cats—is drawn to the Christmas tree. To what nefarious end, who knows. Maybe just because it’s pretty, but I doubt it. How is he doing in his new home? By the look of him—with a shiny black coat and bright eyes—I would guess just fine! Merry Christmas Nero. Be a good boy!

Update for Ember: Ember is fine, but getting along in age. She has her quirks like we all do, but she is comfortable, safe, and secure in her home. All and all she’s one of the lucky ones. She was named Ember because of the bright orange spot on her mostly black face. She has a bit of attitude, but she is a tortie and that is to be expected. You go girl!

Look what's under the tree. It's Destiny (aka Maya), and this is her update. She’s getting along fine and is ready for Santa's arrival. Hopefully, her "destiny" isn't tearing up the Christmas tree! She does look innocent, but it is a possibility.

Darla, now Scarlett, is napping in a favorite spot. We have heard Scarlett has a mischievous side, which manifests itself in taking things off the walls (pictures, etc.), sometimes breaking things, and swinging from the banisters. She a wild child, but young. She may grow out of her shenanigans. What a fun girl she is.

Update on Kit: what a personality and so smart! He’s not cuddly, but he does love to be brushed. Early in the morning, after his breakfast, he starts asking (nagging) to be brushed, and he doesn’t take no for an answer! He knows how to get what he wants. He likes visitors and coerces them into fussing over him. He’s an absolute pest, but I think he’s funny.

Update on Chicken and Sesame. We are sure there is an interesting story behind their names, but we can only speculate, and they don't care. They look healthy and happily bonded, so we'll leave it at that. Thanks so much to their family first for adopting two friends and second for treating them like royalty.

This is Graycee's four-year update! Ahhhh! Graycee, you look like you're doing just fine. Bless your family for taking such good care of you. When we place an animal in a home, we always hope it will be a permanent one and that the animal will be loved, safe, and treated well. It certainly looks like that is the case with Graycee. Happy napping, pretty kitty. May your future be a bright one.

This update makes us happy. The photo shows that beautiful Moose is well cared for and loved, the perfect outcome of an adoption. Thanks so much to his family for letting us know that Moose is safe in a permanent home; it means a lot. We love the name. He must have grown up to be big.
