56 days ago, I began a journey to build trust with this mare and today she had her first saddling- no spook, no buck. I was unfortunately only able to capture one short video 😓
I had zero thought to introducing Luna to the saddle today. On my way down to work with her, a gorgeous bald eagle flew over the mustang corrals- perhaps a sign ❤️
However, after a session in the round pen, I just decided today was the day. When you've been doing this as long as I have, you just "know" although you can never fully predict the outcome.
This little mare has worked so hard to overcome her nerves, not let her flight instinct take over, and trust. It's an understatement to say I'm so happy with her progress over 56 days and her response to being introduced to the saddle and wearing it fully cinched up all in the same day without missing a step.

After the initial introduction to pad and saddle , once cinched, I asked Luna to move both directions. Seeing her level of comfort, I removed the rope and just let her hang out wearing the saddle in the work area, doing her own thing and getting use to it. She unsaddled with ease and got an extra treat and lots of rubs at the end of this session.
