JJ has recovered well from his operation to have a growth removed which was left unattended for to long. He has settled comfortably into my home and learnt the house rules. JJ gets on well with my other dogs but no way can he be near my cat.

JJ was living on a chain on hard cement and not being given the life he deserved. He was flown down to Tasmania to start a new life. Watch for more post on JJ.

Meet Soldier! 🐶

Soldier's story began at Socares Erina, where he was discovered abandoned outside their Charmhaven pound facility. Despite being microchipped, his owner couldn't be reached. Abandon by his family, Soldier struggled in the kennels, and that's when Socares reached out for help.

We needed a local foster home to ease his stress, so we reached out on our social pages, and we were overjoyed when someone stepped up to foster him. Soldier is now a cherished member of a loving family. He's settled in beautifully, gets along with his four legged foster brother, and adores his foster parents. They're teaching him to be a well-behaved family member, and he's learning new skills such as loose leash walking with the assistance of a local trainer, Sarah Lufe Dog Behaviour Modification

Soldier is a deaf American Bulldog, nearly 4 years old. He is just a big lazy love bug just waiting to give you all of his attention. 🐾 Ten days and counting with Connell in our care, and it's been a smooth ride! 🏡

Connell, the sweet and easygoing 5-month-old deaf Irish Wolfhound, has settled in beautifully with his foster carer. ❤️🐕 We're discovering new things about Connell each day; he's a true sweetheart who loves giving other dogs licks on the face. While his intentions are good, some pups may not appreciate it, so we're working on teaching him some boundaries.

Hershey, Navy, Hoops, and Sonar are our longest-term foster dogs. Navy has been with us for 811 days, Hoops for 605 days, Hershey for 380 days, and Sonar for 287 days. In total, they've been in our care for 2083 days. We would truly love to see them settled in their forever homes, and your support can make a difference in this quest.

Each of these dogs is the perfect companion for someone out there; we're sure about that. The challenge is in finding that special someone. If you've been keeping an eye on one of these dogs and are considering adoption but have questions, pop them in the comments and they will be answered.

Her sister, Radar, has already found a loving home, but Sonar is still waiting for hers. She isn't as confident as her sister when she came into care, and has had some challenges to overcome. However, this doesn't mean she doesn't deserve a loving and caring home; she certainly does. We're trying our best to find this girl her elusive "unicorn" home.

Chelsea from . has met Sonar a few times now. Here's what she has to say about Sonar: "It takes Sonar a while to warm up to a new person, but once she welcomes you into her circle, you're there for life. I've been fortunate enough to meet her several times, and seeing bits of her curious, quirky personality shine through each time we meet is truly heartwarming. She's a playful girl, especially with her doggy friends, and she loves teasing Pippin (my koolie, who's around her age). She reminds me of an imp: very cheeky and mischievous."

This video is an excellent example showing how the trainer was supporting the dog who needed space as well as teaching the other dog what is acceptable interaction by being removed from play.

Learning the dogs body language is crucial to keep them safe, relaxed and emotionally happy. The video is a good example to watch and learn BUT as you can see in the video the dog owners are NOT supervising their dogs play. As an owner (pack leader in dog term) your dog expects that you will keep them safe. Part of my puppy classes involves teaching dog owners how and when to intervene.
