Our Story
I started dog walking in 2002, at the age of eleven. Shortly after turning twelve I added ‘home care’ into the mix, where I would take care of neighbours homes and animals while they were away. Growing up with cats and dogs my entire life, it was an easy path to take.
In high school I thought it was time to get a “real job” because that’s what everyone around me was doing. It wasn’t something I was happy with and I struggled a long time trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I wanted to help animals but I wasn’t interested in the thirteen years of university it would take me to become a vet. So I continued to walk dogs and house sit for neighbours while holding a “real job” at the same time.
In the summer of 2016 me and a friend were standing outside of a Tim Hortons when a car spun out of control and hit the building.. smashing us up pretty good in the process. I was air lifted to Sunnybrook Hospital where I spent five weeks rehabilitating. In this time I realized that life can be cut short at any moment and it was up to me to make the most of mine.
This realization is what lead me back to dog walking. I couldn’t remember a time I was happier than when I was walking through the woods with the pups! After expressing to several people in my life how happy it made me, I was told to just take the risk and start my own business. “The behavior and training course you did at Durham College and your passion for the animals will make you the perfect dog walker!” So I went for it.. and I can honestly say that I haven’t felt this happy in a very long time. It’s been a hard two years but I finally feel like I’m exactly where I was meant to be!
