Recall & Prey drive
Does your dog chase livestock? Does your dog come back when you ask them to, regardless of the distractions? Will your dog “wait” no matter what is happening around them?
Recall is essential for safety. In situations where a dog may be off lead or in an uncontrolled environment (e.g., a park or field with deer, horses and sheep), a reliable recall can prevent the dog from running into dangerous situations, such as traffic, farm animals, or unknown hazards. Control in a public area is paramount. A dog that responds promptly to a recall command is easier to manage in public places, ensuring they don’t engage in undesirable behaviors, If your dog struggles with a high prey drive or you cannot get your dog to come back to you in a situation that might cause a problem then you need to get in touch!!

Bear needs no introduction, he can pretty much turn his furry feet to any task he’s set. All dogs have good & bad days, lots of trainers don’t show the bloopers but dog training is definitely not a straight line, more of a rollercoaster with lots of ups and downs. Training takes patience and consistency, it can be messy but so rewarding when you and your companion eventually get it right. What I’m trying to say is keep f*cking going!! It’s always worth it in the end 👊🥰🐾 #k9rehablancs #dogtraining #dogs #dogobedience #lancashire #germanshepherd #retrievalpractice

Rescue dogs
Training rescue dogs can be one of the most fulfilling experiences. It not only helps the dogs learn essential skills and behaviors, but it also strengthens the bond between the dog and its handler. Each dog has its own unique history and personality, and seeing them transform and thrive in a loving environment is incredibly rewarding, this is the best part for us at K9Rehab. Additionally, training can help boost a dog's confidence, making them more adoptable and improving their chances of finding a forever home. Whether it's basic obedience, agility training, or specialised tasks, the progress that both the dog and new owner make together is truly special. Plus, the joy of watching a rescue dog flourish in a loving home is unmatched! #lancashire #k9rehablancs #dogtraining #rescuedog #dogrescue #dogrehabilitation #dogs #lovedogs #pendledogs
Scent work
Scent work is important for dogs for several reasons, both from a physiological and psychological perspective:
1. Natural Instincts: Dogs have an extraordinary sense of smell, estimated to be between 10,000 to 100,000 times more sensitive than humans. Engaging in scent work allows dogs to tap into their natural instincts and abilities, providing them with a fulfilling and stimulating activity.
2. Mental Stimulation: Scent work challenges a dog's mind and helps prevent boredom. It requires focus, problem-solving, and critical thinking, which can be mentally exhausting. This type of stimulation is crucial for a dog's overall well-being and can reduce behavioral issues that arise from boredom or pent-up energy.
3. Physical Exercise: While scent work is primarily a mental activity, it often involves physical movement as dogs search for scents. This can provide valuable exercise, contributing to their physical health and fitness.
4. Bonding Opportunities: Engaging in scent work can strengthen the bond between a dog and its handler. Working together to find scents fosters teamwork and communication, enhancing the relationship between the dog and its owner.
5. Therapeutic Benefits: Scent work can have therapeutic effects, helping dogs with anxiety or behavioral issues. The focus required during scent work can help calm nervous or hyperactive dogs, providing them with a constructive outlet for their energy.
6. Confidence Building: Scent work can boost a dog’s confidence, especially if they successfully complete tasks or find hidden items. This is particularly beneficial for nervous or anxious dogs, as it encourages them to engage more with their environment.
7. Career Opportunities: Many dogs are trained for specific scent work roles, such as search and rescue, detection of drugs, fire arms or explosives, and assistance for individuals with disabilities. This specialised training utilises their natural abilities and can lead to rewarding careers.
8. Social Interaction: S

Claire & Juno
This type of training scenario can be effective in teaching a dog to focus on their commands and tasks despite distractions or threats. By asking for a "stand out" after sending the dog after an assailant, you are reinforcing the importance of obedience and control in high-pressure situations. Instructing the dog to clear a piece of agility equipment with the threat still present adds an additional layer of difficulty and demonstrates the dog's ability to perform complex tasks under stress. Overall, this type of training can help build a dog's confidence, obedience, and ability to stay focused in potentially dangerous situations. It is important to ensure that the dog is properly trained and prepared for these types of scenarios to ensure their safety and effectiveness in real-life situations. Reactive Dogs
Extreme reactivity is something we deal with on a daily basis. I’m constantly hearing about trainers recommending people avoid walking their dogs in populated areas where other dog walkers are out, telling them to cross the road, turn around, hide in alleyways and back streets to avoid oncoming dogs, what nonsense is this?????
If you are fearful of any situation eg: fear of heights, social anxiety, scared of snakes, fear of flying etc, the best way to overcome these fears is to face them and desensitise yourself, nobody ever got over something by avoidance!
I keep hearing that dogs aren’t pack animals, that they don’t need strong leadership 🤦🏻♀️, of course they do!! Have you ever watched a pack of dogs socially interacting? There is ALWAYS a hierarchy.
If you have a weak manager at your place of work and nobody gave you clear guidelines and boundaries it becomes a complete sh*t show. Just because people think they’ve evolved, dogs haven’t! They need you to show them what they need to do and give them confidence in you as their handler. Paying over £100 for a consultation to be told you’re better off rehoming your dog rather than giving the dog clear messages, strong boundaries and preventing poor behaviour, it’s an absolute joke!
. Weak management creates unruly dogs, it’s so simple so stop giving sh*t advice and over complicating things. #k9rehablancs #reactivedogtraining #reactivedogs #dogtraining #obediencetraining #balancetraining #trainyourdog #dogobedience #lancashire #lovedogs
