Updates and things to expect for the "Labor of Love" Hunter Breeding Show on Monday!!

At this time, the weather looks like it is going to be cloudy but dry and a refreshing 89 degrees (compared to todays ugly high of 101!!).

We will be planning to use the outdoor arena for this show, but we will move to the covered arena should weather forecast change, show will go rain our shine!

Show office air conditioning is struggling in this heat, so the show office will have a temporary home inside the main barn air conditioned tack room.

We can't wait to see you all on Monday, September 2nd!

We learned this morning of the passing of an equestrian great, Sissie Anderton. Our deepest and sincerest sympathies to the entire Anderton Family and all of Sissie's connections at Brownland Farm Horse Shows. She left a mark in the equestrian world, and not just in Middle Tennessee. Go forward and ride the big jumps, Sissie. 🤍

We would like to wish all the competitors and breeders this week at the Sallie B. Wheeler / USEF / USHJA National Hunter Breeding Championships the best of luck and congratulations on your accomplishment to produce young horses to the ring. We know how much work goes into breeding and developing these youngsters. Just being there is a win for all of you.

This year, in loving memory of our first broodmare JRF Mahrus Amira (better known as “Stitches”), who we sadly lost a few weeks ago, Highland Manor Farm is sponsoring the Best Young Horse Championship Class at the East Coast Championship.

Some of our best horses are the least expected to achieve success. But, they can succeed in so many different ways. Stitches showed on the line herself as a young mare in halter classes. She was also a broodmare, pleasure horse, hunter, jumper, trail horse, IEA mount, lesson horse and foal babysitter. She could do it all.

We have received MANY inquiries about showing at the "LABOR OF LOVE" Hunter Breeding Show on Labor Day!

So we have put together this simple summary on the most frequently asked questions:

This is a USEF licensed Regional 1 day show, which means all horse registration rules must be followed in order to show. That applies to foals as well!

Foals must be registered with a microchip to be eligible to compete.

Foals less than 7 months of age do not require coggins or proof of vaccines. Mares will accompany their foals into the class. You may have an assistant to handle the mare.

Foals DO NOT TROT IN HAND! They are presented at a walk only.

Because this is a Channel 2 Regional 1 day show, handlers may present more than 1 entry in a class.

This is not a National/Premier level show. Braiding is at your preference.

Following on the heels of her huge success for her 2024 German Riding Pony inspection with Westfalen NA last week, we are THRILLED to announce that Highland Pixie Dust is in foal to Falling Moon Shine!!! Heartbeat confirmed!!! This foal is going to be a knockout! Due May 2025, we will only be offering the filly option on this foal at this time.

Our 2024 Westfalen NA and German Riding Pony Inspection is in the books! The quality of the mares and foals this year was absolutely top-tier!

Congratulations to owner/breeders Mark & Carla Greisen from Cabot, Arkansas, on their stunning filly, Foxly Loxley Feline! Sired by Fortunato H20, out of Lady, this filly was a very high scoring foal (8.5!) and truly lovely to watch in the arena.

Our own mares and foals did not disappoint!Highland Pixie Dust was praised as a pretty type, pretty face and big eye, to go with a big shoulder and croup, and active trot, with comments of "rideable gaits" and expected to be a "great children's pony!'

Pixie was only beat out by a tie-breaker as High Point Mare of the day by our very own own FC Highland Thistle! Comments from the judge, "typeful pony mare, pretty head and face, active canter with balance and changes, free and soft mover." Additional praise as a, "stunning hunter pony to be sure to win in the ring with that trot!" Our Thistle pony is in foal to Falling Moon Shine for an April 2025 foal!

And, we have no sadness that the buyer breached contract on the in-utero option to buy our lovely Allace, as she was a PREMIUM FOAL!! Scoring 8.0 across all categories, with an 8.5 for Overall Impression, this Apiro filly, out of Wallace WF, is beautiful and typeful with "balanced canter and push from behind" and it wasn't missed by any means that she is "well muscled".

To conclude an already amazing day, we could not be more proud to announce that Onyx Prime was the High Point C**t of the inspection and earned himself his own foal award with a minimum 8.0 across the board, with an 8.5 for both Type (Breed and S*x) and Overall Impression! Judge's comments that "well developed, pretty face, uphill build, elegant, good rhythm and swing." As our first 3rd generation foal and Rodimus Prime - 2020 Oldenburg NA Stallion's first foal, we are truly humbled to have Onyx Prime earn such praise!

Thank you to all who attended, and it was lovely to see so many spectators this year getting to learn and enjoy what Westfalen NA contributes to the future of breeding in North America.
