The first of my 2023 Northern Blue Tongue Skink babies are officially up on Morph Market!

These babies are from a second generation redxsunrise male bred to a classic female. The male was produced by Ron Couto. The female is one of James Wilson's original breeder females, Kimberley, who was produced by Jeff Greene from Andrew Seike line adults.

Excellent lineage on these guys and equally excellent attitudes as this litter came out with very calm attitudes for baby skinks.

Some freshly shed Pitch Black line northern blueys. This line was developed right here through many years of selective breeding. There are quite a few dark lines these days but only one Pitch Black line. Frank Payne of Living Art is currently producing the very best Pitch Blacks around! This comming year will be an exciting one for this project!

Nothing like a great surprise! Especially one that involves baby skinks!

Just found a small litter of northern ueys from a female who bred in April for me. I had completely forgotten about it, was sure she didn't take. I love the parents, pictured last, should make for some super light colored adults!

A tragedy has hit the reptile community. Ari Flagle and Ryu Lugosi, two of the most beloved and respected among us, lost their entire reptile collection to a devastating fire. My heart is absolutely broken for these two.

A huge thank you to the amazingly talented artist, Noah Bounds, for this incredible logo!

He so perfectly captured my old and beloved northern girl, Burrito, and i am blown away how much it looks like her. As many of you know, Burrito has been with me over two decades now. She is, for all intents and purposes, the catalyst that propelled me into the reptile hobby all those years ago. She is my most loved pet.

And that gila! This logo represents the old meeting the new, skinks will always be my heart but I hope to expand more into the wold of heloderma in the near future.

TW: GRAPHIC PHOTO, Breeding loss

Breeding live animals of any sort always comes with inherent risks.... and it can happen to any breeder without warning.... but it's never not a shocking and devastatingly sad thing to happen..

A few days ago my final pregnant female delievered a small little of healthy babies. Everything seemed fine, she had become quite flat as they do after birth. I assumed she was done. I did notice she was exceedingly tired after but that's not uncommon either. I left this morning for a doctor's appointment and she was awake and walking around. But when I came home she was far too still to be sleeping and I realized she had passed. Knowing she had just given birth recently I opened her up to see if I could find why she passed and to my absolute amazement found 11 more babies inside her reproductive tract. One baby was stuck near the opening of her vent which I'm guessing is the cause of all this. I am utterly devestated to loose this girl and her babies. I love all my skinks, they are so much more then a business to me. I've never lost a pregnant female before... It is a super sad day....

But out of this profound sadness a teachable moment emerges. Breeding blue tongue skinks has become increasingly popular in recent years. We are always sharing our successful seemingly worry free litters being born, always sharing and talking about the positive aspects of keeping and breeding. But this is the reality of the negative side. Sometimes you can do everything right, cross all your Ts and dot all your Is, and still something blindsides you. Still something can go wrong.

If you choose to breed skinks always remember this. Remember that there ARE negative aspects of breeding. They with all the excitement and awe there needs to be respect and pause for the possibility of the opposite.

I am SO EXCITED to share this!

Five years ago I purchased a pair of baby unsexed gidgees from my friend and fellow bluey breeder, Joey Mugleston. I've raised them all this time hoping they were a pair. And every year no babies. I was sure they were both females or just wouldn't ever produce.

But today I found two perfect babies! My very first year producing gidgee skinks!

I am so happy!

Another extreme surprise litter of northerns!

This female has slugged out for me the last 5 years. This was to be her last try as I was convinced she was infertile.

But she had 3 perfect babies today! I am still in shock!

Sorry for.photo.quality, my cell phone screen kicked the bucket today so have to deal.with this crappy tablet camera. Lol.

Broke a personal record today!

19 baby Pitch Black line northern blueys born today! I created this line of northern over years of selective breeding but due to some setbacks haven't been able to produce any in 2 years. This just made my whole year to not only produce them again but as my biggest litter ever!
