It's now 2020 and Hero has been a Toronto, ON Canada dog since 2014! At 2yrs old, Hero was rescued in Tehran, Iran from a life that was full of abuse which ultimately left him dumped on the streets and struggling to survive on his own. After immigrating to Toronto in 2014, Hero was diagnosed with Leishmaniasis, a blood born parasitic disease passed through sandflies native to his home country. Due
to the extensive medical care and heavy cost of care, we hopped on Hero's rollercoaster ride to better health and his fundraising began while his rescue journey continued. There were a lot of ups/downs, tears of happiness and tears of stress/worry/frustration. Thankfully, Hero has been stable since the end of 2015 and his disease continues to remain under control to this day. Now, Hero is older and while his Leish is still well controlled, he is now on a urinary friendly diet due to a round of crystals that have since cleared up thanks to his diet. He has also been struggling with other health issues that have been ongoing. In particular, his thyroid which has gone from Hypo to Hyper. This means he currently has regular and ongoing follow-up blood tests to monitor not only his Leish activity but also, his thyroid function which of course, results in ongoing medical expenses. As a result of his high needs when his Leish is active, Hero never did find his adopted forever home back in his earlier years of rescue. What he does have tho, is his medical needs long term foster status with Random Rescuer. Hero is very much a part of and loved by his foster family. The cherry on top is that he is extra loved because he has all of you who love, support and follow him! To help Hero with his day to day and medical expenses, your financial gift can be sent to:
