ATLANTA, GA: This is no way for a gentle, old dog to go out in life. A staff member at 10 year old Raven's shelter has directly sent us a plea for help for Raven, the staff member is heartbroken. Raven is bewildered at the shelter and she deserves better than this. PLEASE SHARE! Old age is not a disease. Raven still knows what it's like to feel loved and laying in a shelter need not be her fate. T
he best case scenario is that Raven is going through the natural aging process and, assuming she is pain free, needs a gentle home to comfortably spend all of her days in. Raven needs to be seen for thorough vet examination to determine her true quality of life. For those unfamiliar with the general shelter system, this will not happen while she is at the city shelter due to a lack of resources and high intake numbers. Raven will need to be adopted or pulled by a rescue to receive the extensive care that she needs. The shelter wrote, "Raven was called in as a stray when she was found wandering in someone's backyard for several days. She is 52 pounds. Raven is very gentle and sweet but bewildered here at the shelter. She is blind and deaf and has no idea where she is. (She may have a tiny bit of sight but that's it.) She is often found lying in her kennel, eyes open seemingly staring at the wall. She will startle when you touch her but once she knows you are there, she enjoys the attention. Raven is fine with other dogs and cats. She did not react around them at all. She has quite a few medical issues going on...blind, deaf, dry nose, arthritis, gingivitis, and mammary tumors. She's a mess and I know a long shot, but I really hate to see her meet her end here at the shelter. Unfortunately, due to her health problems and need for extensive vet care, she is not eligible for the shelter's foster program."
