Rural Animal Rescue Effort - RARE We are asking that you help us give them their chance at the life they deserve. Please share our page and invite your friends and family to ‘Like’ us!

Rural Animal Rescue Effort (RARE) is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization based in middle Tennessee with a mission to rescue neglected and abandoned animals in rural areas with extreme overpopulation of companion animals. Rural Animal Rescue Effort (RARE) is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit organization dedicated to helping find rescue, fosters and adopters for animals in rural shelters and pounds, both “no-

kill” and “high-kill”. Although we are beginning our efforts in the west and middle region of Tennessee, we plan on growing our efforts to other areas and states as our organization and support for our cause grows. In the interim, we will focus on the shelters and pounds that we are currently helping and continue to network animals in need across the country via social platforms, including facebook, instagram pet adoption sites, etc. In addition to networking with other non-profit organizations, including rescues, RARE also looks for foster care and adopters for the animals in need and raises donations for veterinary care, including but not limited to, vaccines, heartworm tests, heartworm preventative, and spays and neuters. For those who are not active in the animal rescue world, there are tens of thousands of companion animals, mainly dogs and cats, killed every single day across the United States. Although there are animals in need everywhere across the country, rural areas seem to have the worst cases of companion animal overpopulation and abandonment for a plethora of reasons. Almost all of the animals, that sit in rural shelters/pounds or are more commonly euthanized due to the lack of space, time and money it takes to care for them, are highly adoptable and friendly with children and other animals. It takes time to accomplish change, but every stride in the right direction is worth taking.

Finnian has two great loves in life: his people… and cheese.

Finn is about 3 years old, around 30 lbs, and has one of those looks you don’t forget — a pittie face on a dachshund body, a gorgeous brindle coat, and the kind of expression that makes you laugh without knowing why.

He’s a true shadow dog. If you move rooms, he follows. If you sit down, he’s right there. Finn just wants to be included — whether that’s hanging out, going for a walk, or settling in for a cuddle (especially if snacks are involved).

He does well with most dogs but definitely prefers being the center of attention. He’s wonderful with kids, affectionate to his core, and an all-around good boy. Cats aren’t his thing, so he’s looking for a cat-free home where he can focus all that love on his humans.

We’re looking for a foster or adopter for Finnian — someone who doesn’t mind a loyal sidekick, a little silliness, and a dog who will absolutely notice when cheese appears.

Fill out an adoption application at rarerescue.org today. 💙

Our pups soaked up so much love yesterday from volunteers, friends, and guests, and we had the best time catching up with our RARE community. From belly rubs to big smiles, this event reminded us just how lucky we are to be surrounded by people who show up — again and again — for rural animals in need. 💙

A huge thank you to our volunteers who came out, and to everyone who has fostered, transported, donated, shared posts, and supported RARE throughout the year. We truly couldn’t do this without you.

And the biggest thank-you to for capturing the joy, the dogs, and the magic so beautifully.

We’re ending the year full of gratitude — and ready to keep saving lives together. 💙

UPDATE: SAFE! Tagged by a rescue partner

Meet Yukon Cornelius! 💙

Yukon is a sweet 2–3-year-old, 55 lb yellow Lab who’s been waiting at the pound for about a month, and he’s more than ready for his break out. He does great with other dogs, walks beautifully on leash without any reactivity, and absolutely loves people.

He’s food motivated, eager to please, and has the kind of gentle, friendly nature that makes him easy to love.

Yukon is heartworm negative and up to date on vaccines, with the exception of rabies — which we can schedule at the time of his neuter as soon as we have a foster commitment.

He’s been such a good boy in a tough place, and we would love nothing more than to get him out of that pound and into a home where he can finally relax and just be a dog.

For the past month, Yukon has had no time outside his cage, very little human interaction, and 30 long days waiting for someone who will never come — because this pound is closed to the public and doesn’t offer adoptions. Rescue is truly his only way out.

We want to be that rescue.
We just need a foster to say yes. 💙

If you can foster, please reach out. And if you can’t, please share — it truly makes a difference.
