Passion For Pets Rescue Organization PPR Org is a foster-based, all volunteer rescue. State licensed - F1838, 501c3 non-profit organization - EIN 47-3520467 PPR covers all medical expenses.

We rescue dogs & puppies from high kill shelters in the South and bring them to mid-coast Maine to find loving permanent homes. Passion for Pets Rescue (PPR) is a non-profit, fully insured and state licensed rescue, run by volunteers. We are a small group of like minded folks with big hearts. PPR does not have an actual shelter; all of our dogs are either in foster homes throughout mid-coast and s

outhern Maine or with our partners in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas. The majority of the dogs we rescue require immediate veterinary care. Skin infections and internal parasites are common occurrences. We pay for all spay & neuter surgeries. PPR makes sure all dogs are given age appropriate vaccinations, as well as preventative medication for Heartworm and external parasites.

Meet Shelby! Meet Shelby, a spirited Labrador mix born on February 10, 2022. At just under 3 years old, Shelby came to us through no fault of her own—her previous family simply couldn’t provide the care she needed. She’s a strong, playful girl who’s still discovering the joy of playtime, and when she’s ready to relax, Shelby is happiest curled up in your lap. She’s looking for a loving home where she can continue to learn, grow, and snuggle her way into your heart. Shelby would do best with small dogs. She can chase cats so a dog savvy cat might be ok. Meet Buddy! This is Buddy dumped in the shelter parking lot. He was a matted mess. When they shaved him down, he was covered in scars. He is thought to only be around 2. Buddy is a Doodle of some kind who has had a rough life. Our southern rescue partner treated him for heartworm, got the boy healthy and happy, and now it is his turn to find a home! Meet Bentley! Bentley is a 6-month-old Aussie/Doodle. He was surrendered to the shelter for playing too rough with the toddler in the home. I guess they didn’t know he was a puppy. Meet Maci! Maci is a 10-month-old Lab/ Saint Bernard mix according to the owner who surrendered her. She is fostered with multiple dogs and loves everyone. Maci is crate trained and housebroken. Meet Harley! The best boy ever is finally making his way to Maine and looking for a family. Harley is an 8 yr old Boxer. He came to the shelter with heartworm and some mass cell tumors. Harley has been treated for heartworm and is free of those pests. He has also had the mass cells removed. He will need his new owner to keep an eye out for them. Harley has been the greeter and puppy trainer at the shelter for the months he has been there. By far a staff favorite they want him to enjoy the comforts of a home. Harley will be here 12/20 and fostered in Lewiston. Is he the one fur you?

Meet Rowan! Rowan is a sweet Bully mix that came into the shelter a rack of bones with a skin infection. She has put on some weight and her skin has healed. No chicken for her. Rowan now weighs 30 pounds and is spayed and up to date on shots. Rowan is good with dogs, cats, kids, chickens, ducks you name it. She is also housebroken. She went to a very busy Thanksgiving event and was an angel. Is she the one fur you?

We are using today as: Finding Fosters Friday! PPR is in need of fosters. We are not able to rescue as many dogs as we used to, due to a lower number of available foster homes. Can you help? We cover all medical and supplies, while these pups are in your care.
As a reminder: PPR does not have a shelter or central location; instead, we rely on foster homes, so that our dogs can experience family life right upon rescue.

Meet Tripp! Tripp is a 4 year old Chihuahua mix that was surrounded due to the owner going into assisted living and not being able to keep him. Tripp is very sweet and good with dogs, cats, and kids. He is also doing well with housetraining. He is kenneled when his foster is away, but we believe he would be fine without a kennel, as well. He is lap-protective and is learning he needs to share the space with the other dogs. He seems more reactive to females than males when on a lap. He just wants all the love—but will need some guidance when it comes to sharing. Is he the one fur you?

Meet Blue! This handsome American Bully is Blue. He is 11 months old and very much a baby. He just melts with kindness and affection. Blue was surrendered when his family no longer had time for him. He has been neutered and brought up to date on all shots. Blue has never met a stranger he is just the most solid minded boy.
