Travelers Animal Rescue At Travelers Animal Rescue we believe that dog rescue has no borders. Why Mexico? Some dogs are adopted locally in Mexico, but most are adopted into Canada.

Travelers Animal Rescue is a small, private dog rescue in the Greater Toronto Area. We help save dogs facing life-threatening circumstances and uncertain futures in Canada AND Mexico. In Mexico, dogs are rescued from uncertain futures, having suffered from neglect, abuse, starvation and illness. They are placed in loving foster homes by wonderful volunteers at Save A Death Row Dog Playa Del Carmen

, fully vetted, vaccinated, sterilized, and brought back to good health. We select friendly, adoptable dogs from these locations, provide voluntary quarantine in local foster homes where dogs are rehabilitated emotionally, while being given any medical care authorized by the veterinarian. Fosterer’s are invaluable; offering loving homes that assist with the long process from the time of actual rescue to adoption. Fosterer’s in Both Canada and Mexico, know a pet for adoption very well and pass on this valuable information about an individual pet’s personality, temperament, level of socialization, housetraining, and basic training. Once they are completely healthy, these lucky dogs are then placed for adoption on our pet finder page and multiple networking websites. All dogs are sterilized, disease tested, temperament tested, socialized by fosters, given all mandatory vaccinations, and prior to being transported are given an additional examination by a veterinarian and certificate of health within 24 hours of their transport to Canada from Mexico. In many cases Animal Rescue Organizations like Travelers Animal Rescue, are the only hope these dogs have. We do not discriminate by age, size, breed, location, temperament, etc. We are here to help ALL dogs! Why Mexico?…..Because that is where we have connections with other amazing local rescues who we could not do this without.

This boy is happily flying on a pet friendly airline out of Aruba 🙏
He is just under 20 lbs the allowed weight to fly! He is in an airline approved bag 💼 He has his paperwork in order and there is A lot of paper work to do!!! The flight volunteer was at the airport on time! The pup was Showered clean clean 🧼 Did not eat breakfast (so no accidents when flying) had his brand new harness leash and collar! A toy a blanket a sweater! A zip lock bag filled with wipes and p*e pads a water bowl and p**p bag….everything needed JUST in case! All drivers and foster mamas waiting and ready! PLANE ticket purchased! It TAKES SOOO MUCH WORK TO FLY JUST ONEEE!! JUST ONE BABY!!! You guys have no idea how hard & How expensive How Many people are lined up!!! 🆙 it’s a gigantic Puzzle! 🧩 This boy is leaving his two sisters behind! Alanis and Joanie are stuck! They were set to fly on Jet Blue Their tickets purchased (after almost an hour on hold) and they had everything ready All the incredibly Hard arrangements in place! All the expensive papers in order that now have to be redone. At the Jet Blue Counter the Local kid working who was extremely arrogant told the excited Flight Volunteers and our precious foster mama Glenda (who is not feeling well) Noooo they can NOT GO
Why????? We said!?? They are NOT near 20 lbs the allowed weight!? He said they can not STAND UP
who’s rule is that?? We never heard that??? He said his rule and there was NO discussing it He has the last word! He also said he will not put a note in the computer letting Jet Blue know the pups did not fly he said that’s your job to “try” to get your $250 back not his problem. Little does he know we are working very hard to let
Jet Blue Corporate Know What has been going on And there is NO doubt in my mind that this will not be handled in favor of our amazing flight volunteers and beautiful rescue babies we are desperate to Save!! 🙏

We are urgently looking for flight volunteers to Canada! We have a couple of dogs that need to go to their new home in Canada before the WestJet May 15th cargo heat restriction. If you're flying from Puerto Plata, Santiago or Punta Cana please email [email protected] if you can take a dog with you in cargo. We do all of the paperwork for you and meet you at both airports so it's very easy! These new owners would really love to get their pets and not have to wait until November.

Note: Must be WestJet. Air Canada's heat ban was effective May 1st.

Meet this sweet and affectionate little dog. He is quiet and curious. He loves to play and cuddle with his fellow dogs at the shelter, but also has a great time by himself and will go out back and explore on his own. Besides loving his p*ers, he is always at the forefront when human hugs are handed out. He likes to walk on leash and even already knows how to sit on command. He is also sweet towards stranger people and dogs!

In short he is the perfect dog. Good with dogs, good with kids.

He is 10 months old and 46lbs - almost full grown.

All expenses paid!

Well it’s been a while since I’ve posted. Unfortunately a lengthy battle with Leukaemia put all aspects of my life on hold. Covid has put quite the damper on travelling, but I’m hoping in the next year I can at least get back to fostering 🙂.

You see that sad looking pup in the pound on our home page? She was the first mexi mutt I ever saved and adopted out from this rescue 14 years ago crossed over the rainbow bridge this week. She was so beautiful and sweet it was a challenge to let her go, but she enjoyed 13 long years with her forever family. Rest In Peace sweet Chispa, you were so loved and will be so missed. Run free baby girl.
