Pupdate šŸ§” Eeyore (now Arlo), Oklahoma, 2024. We first introduced you to Eeyore in June after he arrived in Oregon on a flight from Dog Is My CoPilot, Inc. He and his siblings were rescued from a shelter in Oklahoma that was beyond full and they had to make space for the dozens of dogs they were getting at their shelter every day. Eeyore was then was fostered by our founder, Marianne Cox, and her family until his perfect match came along šŸ„¹

He now feels right at home with his human siblings and canine brother and gets to go everywhere with them. This is the happy ending we wish for all of our Street Dog Hero pups. Thank you all for helping Eeyore (now Arlo) get what every dog deserves, a second chance. And thank you to his family for choosing to adopt! Here is his pupdate:

ā€œArlo (was Eeyore) was brought to SDH from Oklahoma. We were able to bring him home in August after a whole lot of begging from our daughter, Chloe, a soccer team petition and a slide show - Chloe got her way and found Arlo on social media. We didnā€™t need a 3 day trial to know he was what weā€™d been missing. Heā€™s now a soccer loving ranch dog who loves to play hard, snuggle his people and fur bro Gunnar and bring joy to everyone he meets at school, the store, fields and work alike!

We canā€™t imagine any other little man to add to the family and love what Street Dog Hero represents! Grateful to the staff and fosters that keep this awesome mission alive to keep additions to the family like Arlo easy to find!

Whatā€™s most amazing is how much life heā€™s added to our 8 year old rescue who has slowed way down since losing his best buddy hank to old age in April. A playmate and best bud have put the spring in his step heā€™s always hadšŸ©¶ā€ - Arloā€™s mom, Brooke.

Spot has been āœØthrivingāœØ in his foster home and his fosters say heā€™s been coming out of his shell SO much! This 9 month old boy was found as a stray on the Umatilla reservation in Washington where he was living with a pack of dogs. He was pretty shy when he first arrived at Street Dog Hero but has come such a long way in a very short amount of time and is now loving being in a home for the first time ā™„ļø

Hereā€™s an update from his foster:
ā€œHeā€™s definitely an A+ leash walker! Doesnā€™t seem to react to people or other dogs we see. Also, he is a very goofy, funny boy. And, no potty accidents. He seems pretty much house trained!ā€

Ready to make it official? Check out streetdoghero.org to read more about him and apply to adopt.

We have some VERY good news to share! After almost 2 months of waiting in a kennel (and who even knows how long he was at the shelter in Oklahoma before that), Herbie finally got scooped up and went to a foster home today!!

We canā€™t wait to see his personality soar now that he gets to run around and play in a yard of his own and get lots of love from his foster family. Way to go, Herbie! Weā€™re proud of you, buddy šŸ„¹

Now all he needs is to land his perfect forever home! If youā€™re interested in a big beefcake like Herbie, please fill out an adoption application at streetdoghero.org. AND thanks to a very kind volunteer for making a donation in Herbieā€™s honor, his adoption fee has been reduced to only $120!

Maple is the definition of a land seal šŸ¦ Sheā€™s good for about a 1-2 mile walk around the block and then sheā€™s more than happy to be snuggled up on the couch in her pjs for the rest of the day (same, girl). So if youā€™re looking for a lovable couch potato with a whole lotta love to give, then Maple is your girl! šŸ©·

Brains? Oh they are in there. Somewhere. But we would say her stronger qualities are her affectionate nature and loving personality.

Her love language? Quality time and physical touch. This girl is all about the pets. She makes human and dog friends everywhere she goes with her calm and easy-going demeanor. Sure, she gets the zoomies from to time and will take out any small child or little animal in her path but for the most part, her go-to mode is chill (hence, all of the nap time photos šŸ˜Œ).

Maple was rescued from a horrible situation in Christmas Valley, OR and was brought to Street Dog Hero by the wonderful family that rescued her, along with her 3 puppies (who have all been adopted). Now, sheā€™s searching for a loving home where she can spend her days lounging from bed to bed. She would also love another dog sibling around the house to play with.

If youā€™d like to meet Maple in person and see if itā€™s a perfect fit, please fill out an Adoption Application at streetdoghero.org!

Looking for a fun way to get some exercise in during the new year? Well youā€™re in luck because weā€™re looking for Volunteer Dog Walkers to come walk some pups at our facility in Bend, OR! šŸ¾

Walking shifts are every day between 7:30-9:30am and 3:30-5:30pm. There is a route we typically take dogs on around Ponderosa Park and back, which is down the street from the office, but you can also take a pup for a day adventure as well!

To sign up, please head to streetdoghero.org to fill out a volunteer application.

Walk time is their FAVORITE part of the day and it gives them a nice break from the kennel so you are making a huge difference just by giving an hour or two of your time ā™„ļø We canā€™t thank you enough!

Someone sign this girl up for a modeling contract IMMEDIATELY because sheā€™s got the looks to make it BIG on the runway šŸ“ø šŸ’…

Siren isnā€™t all looks though - this 7 year old lab mix has also has a personality to match. Sheā€™s affectionate, smart, eager to please, and is ready to be your one and only companion ā™„ļø

Siren is also needing a Foster! If youā€™re able to give this gorgeous lady a place to crash, please fill out a Foster Application on our website. Or if you are already an approved foster, email us directly at [email protected].

Her previous foster, Jerri, canā€™t say enough great things about her:
ā€œSiren is a delight to have around the house. She is so well behaved and has learned the boundaries we have set for her. She likes a bit of attention and the occasional snuggle, but mostly is content to lounge on her ā€œcouchā€ and maybe chomp on her plush squeaky toys. She sleeps all night in an open crate and never bothers us until we are ready to get up. We leave her unattended in the house occasionally for 2-4 hours and she has never caused any problem.ā€

Learn more about Siren by heading to our website at streetdoghero.org.

Pupdate šŸ§” Chester, Madras, Oregon, 2024. Remember momma Kai (formally Abigail) that we posted about earlier this week? She was abandoned in Madras, OR along with her nine puppies this past June and was then adopted to the most wonderful family here in Central Oregon.

Kaiā€™s nine puppies were also all adopted and here is one them, Chester, today (can you see the resemblance?šŸ„°)!! He is living the good life and gets to go on lots of adventures with his new family. Thank you to his family for choosing to adopt and for giving Chester the life heā€™s dreamed of! Here is his pupdate:

ā€œChester is already almost 50 pounds with huge feet! He had his first snow adventure and loved every second of it. He will be thriving this winter. Heā€™s been such a good dog and we are so grateful to have such a perfect boy.ā€ - Chesterā€™s mom, Hanna.

THIS is whatā€™s possible when people come together to help the underdogs šŸ„¹ A few weeks ago, we put out a plea for Max, who suffered from a walled-off bone cyst in his jaw and calcified damage around the joint. This meant that he couldnā€™t open his jaw to eat and had to slurp up mushy food. He has likely lived this way for a long time as the vets suspected that he sustained a injury as a puppy that caused his orbital, maxilla and mandible to fuse together.

ā¤ļøšŸ™ Thanks to your donations and the wonderful team at the Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon, Max was able to get the intensive surgery he needed to repair his jaw. This surgery would allow Max to be able to eat solid food, play with toys, give face kisses, and all of the wonderful things he wants to do but hasnā€™t been able to.

Thank you to the entire team at Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon for performing this surgery and for giving Max his second chance! The specialist even said that they couldnā€™t figure out how Max had survived this long given the extent of his injuries. This boy is truly a miracle.

Today, Max is getting the very best treatment from his foster, Shaina (who is also one of the vet techs who helped with his surgery) and he is recovering like a total champ! šŸ’Ŗ

He still doesn't seem to realize that he can open his mouth but it might just take some time because of the muscle atrophy. He also wasnā€™t able to regain full range of motion but it is way more than he had before and that is a WIN.

Thank you to everyone who donated for Max and who sent encouraging messages. Your support for pups like Max makes all the difference. If youā€™d like to donate to support medical cases like Maxā€™s in the future, every dollar counts. To donate:

Some of the lives you helped save this yearā€¦

2024 was full of ups and downs, big wins and also some heartbreakā€¦but you know what? We would do it over again and again if it meant even just one life was saved.

Thanks to all of you, 587 dogs (and a few cats!) were adopted in 2024. Thatā€™s 587 dogs that enjoyed the holidays this year at home with their families instead of suffering on the streets or wasting away in a shelter. Almost 330 local animals were provided low-cost spay/neuter services. And 1,919 international spay/neuter surgeries were provided to communities in Mexico and Jamaica this year. THANK YOU!!!šŸ™

This is only possible because of your support. Thank you to everyone whoā€™s fostered, adopted, volunteered, donated, shared our posts, or even just spread the word about what we do. Itā€™s because of you that these dogs are safe today and we canā€™t thank you enough for always supporting our pups and our mission.

2025, letā€™s do this!!šŸ’ŖāœØ

From being abandoned with a litter of newborn puppies in Madras, Oregon, to now trail running with her new family and spending her days in a warm home filled with love - Kaiā€™s journey has been nothing short of a miracle.

Kai and her puppies were part of a large rescue effort where we took in 50 dogs from a shelter that was closing down in Central Oregon this past June. She arrived at Street Dog Hero emotionally shut down and extremely malnourished, trying to survive and take care of herself while also taking care of 9 young puppies. But luckily, her story didnā€™t end there ā¤ļø

Thanks to our team and the kindness and support of people like you, Kai is now living the happy life she was meant to live.

Please help us save more dogs like Kai in 2025 by donating today. Itā€™s the LAST DAY to donate towards Central Oregon Gives and if we receive the most donations by midnight, we will win $15,000. Youā€™ve supported us all year long and as we head into the new year, we would love to start it off with $15k towards our mission.

100% of your donation will go directly to support these animals.

šŸ”— To donate, please head to the Central Oregon Gives link HERE: https://bit.ly/4fEVy4a

Thank you for believing in our rescue pups. Kaiā€™s journey would not have been possible without YOU. From all of us at Street Dog Hero and our pups, we canā€™t thank you all enough for your continued support. It means the world to us.

Can Ceres come crash your New Yearā€™s party?šŸŽŠ Sheā€™s the life of the party and promises to be an A+ wing woman (if you need it šŸ˜œ).

Itā€™s been breaking our hearts to see this social girl cooped up in a kennel at the office for the past month so weā€™d love to see her go to a temp foster home where she can live it up in a home and relax.

Hereā€™s a little bit more about her:
šŸŒ¹Originally from Oklahoma
šŸ„” 5 year old potato-shaped pitty mix
šŸ•ŗšŸŖ© Super social with everyone and loves a good get together!
āš”ļøLives for zoomies and playtime but can also chill

Ceres is an absolute QUEEN who deserves to bring in the New Year cozied up on someoneā€™s couch instead of being stuck in a kennel at the office. Will you help make her wish come true?āœØ

Some holiday magic happening for some very lucky pups this week!āœØšŸ„° Welcome to your new lives, Dasher, Finn, Rex, Ivee, V***n, Barbosa, Whitney, Giorgio and Cupid! And thank you to their families for choosing to adopt and for giving them a lifetime of love.

This right here is what itā€™s all about šŸ‘šŸ§”

And the icing on the cake is that for every rescue dog that is adopted through Street Dog Hero, we are able to save another pup in need. So by adopting, youā€™re actually saving two lives. Thank you to all of our alumni families for keeping us going each and every day.
