At 3 weeks of age, Scout and Zora’s puppies are getting much more active. Here’s a little tidbit of their current cuteness.

Now that the dust has settled, we are happily remembering the fun we had at the Regional Icelandic Sheepdog Specialty / Yankee Cluster last week. We were there Wednesday, July 3 through Saturday, July 6 with Lánsamur Magnea Fra Gou “Maggie”; Valhalla’s Shadow Dancer II CGC “Axel” and Lánsamur Mist Fra Gou “Karma”. All three of these pups continue to amaze me with their ability to go from early morning farm dogs to mid day beauty queens. Thank goodness for those easy Icie coats and versatility!

What a great time we had at the Regional Icelandic Sheepdog Specialty in Springfield, MA this week! It was wonderful to be able to meet so many other Icies and their people in one place. We are so lucky to belong to such a friendly and welcoming breed/show community. A huge thank you to Athena Braun and Tiffany Hoffman for organizing this event— without their dedication and expert planning we would not have had the opportunity to attend a specialty.

Each day went off without a hitch— the ribbons were beautiful, the prizes were fabulous (from the gorgeous paintings to the crab-tastic toys), and even treats for both dogs and humans were supplied! Everyone we met had a great time. We would love to see this turn into an annual event and would be more than happy to lend a hand to help make that possible!

Earlier this month Maggie, aka Lansamur Magnea Fra Gou, had a great day at the Greenwich Kennel Club show in Norwalk, CT. She had fun trying Fastcat for the first time, was Best of Breed and placed Group 4 in a large Owner Handled Herding Group.
Here she is with the smile that she loves to share with everyone❤️

Now, what should we name their band… “The Howlers”? ‘Hot Licks”?

We are so excited about this match! I’ve always liked Gabi’s posts of Zora and was so excited when she reached out about this pairing— having met Zora, I can say she is every bit as attentive and intelligent as Gabi describes her to be. Everyone, of course, knows how much I adore Scout, and he has caused countless others to fall in love with a breed they had never even heard of. They are both beautiful dogs with diverse bloodlines, and phenomenal temperaments. It’s an excellent match in every way, and upholds the goal of preserving what the Icelandic Sheepdog is at its core— a family-loving working dog (with a winning smile).

Myself and Tri-Star Icelandics are very excited to announce the upcoming litter from Haustlita Olafur Orrason and CH Tri-Star Red Cedar Living in Color BN RE SWN ATT. Pregnancy has been confirmed by ultrasound, and puppies will be due about June 30th.

We were lucky enough to spend time in Connecticut with Scout and his owner Tanya on their small farm for the breeding. He is such a lovely, happy dog, the type that makes everyone fall in love with him. Zora is a little more serious and focuses hard on me and her work, but is incredibly sweet and silly when "off duty" with her friends. I’m expecting very balanced temperaments - a good head on their shoulders but with good drive for sports and/or herding. Solid, functional structure with lovely heads/expression. The puppies will all be some shade of black sable, so they will all have black noses like Scout. The shade of sable could range from Zora’s lighter cream to Scout’s rich red. The match is recommended for both increasing genetic diversity and decreasing COI in the breed by DogsGlobal (21.6 meankinship).

There's more information (and more photos) on our website (direct link in the comments). We will continue to share updates, especially once the puppies are born, where you can expect near daily photos and videos of their growth and the things we do to get them ready to take on the world. All puppies are spoken for at this time.

A great example of the teamwork exhibited by our Icelandic Sheepdog chicken guardians. Our most independent, adventurous chicken wandered alone to a part of the farm that has very little cover to run to if a hawk should fly by. Within minutes, she was flanked by her bodyguards Axel and Maggie - while Scout kept an eye on the rest of the flock.
