Happy ! Niblet is now twice as big and growing fast! Cuz ✨surprise✨ she's officially 4 weeks old! How did that happen? Well she was quite stunted and sick when we first met. Weighing in at only 167 grams, she was the size of an 8-day old kitten and not very vibrant. Not only has she been catching up, (gaining a whopping 200g instead of 100g) she also popped out a whole lotta TEETH! 🦈 Niblet currently identifies as a baby shark. She's learned to walk, she's learning to run, (she's learned to bite 🦈), and she may not be extra petite for long. We'll call it the ✨ Trash Baby Glow-Up ✨

Hello friends! Many of you have asked and Cocoa Nib is doing well. ❤️ She is asleep in my hand right now. The Niblet is recovering from dehydration, flea anemia, some goopy eye infections, and GI upset. It has been a wild couple of days for her! She has also packed on 54g in the last two days and has a lot of s***k. She's as good as she can be right now. 😽 Also she pooped MY pants today. 💩

Oh what a late night surprise! 🐈‍⬛ Cocoa was found today alone in a box next to a trash can in a park. She was dehydrated and hungry. 😿 A kind couple rescued her and took care of her all day and called us for help. Bottle babies are hard! They did a good job but now we'll take over. 🍼

🐈 Welcome to SF, Misty! Misty is a super sweet and deaf kitty from 🇹🇷 Kahramanmaras, Türkiye. Her deafness was likely caused by some sort of trauma, because she couldn't even walk when she was first rescued! She's been through a lot and is a serious survivor. Nowadays Misty is doing great and can walk and play again like a normal cat. She's ready to find her forever home here in the Bay. ❤️

🐈‍⬛ It's Black Cat Appreciation Day!! 🐈‍⬛ Today we are dedicating our appreciation to Frog 🐸. Last night a coyote came up to our front door looking for trouble and Frog was ready to bounce him! This fierce fella was once a street survivor and he hasn't lost his instincts. He's all about protecting his home and he went from window to window patrolling to make sure the threat didn't come any closer. (We made sure he couldn't bust out and actually try.) 🐈 Today was International Cat Day! 🐈 Did you celebrate? International Cat Day is about raising awareness for cats and learning about ways to help and protect them. Here is our PSA: Cats are coyote food! Don't be mad at the coyotes for doing what they're born to do, but keep your cats (and other pets) safe indoors. Predators often hunt at dusk or dawn, so be extra diligent at these times and keep your pets on a leash for their safety.

On our evening walk we interrupted this particular coyote who was beelining for this neighbor's cat. Obviously this kitty is not as clever as his family thinks, because he was taking a 💩 with his back to the street!

🏝️ Welcome Malcolm! Another 🇭🇳 island cat has made his way to San Francisco in search of his furrever home. This 8-month old boy is the sweetest 🍊 orange cat we have ever met! (Sorry Peggy 😹) He's really that amazing. He is also a bit of an adorable conversationalist and only meowed in response to my questions but he's been very quiet otherwise. 🏝️ Hello who is peeking at us there? Why it's Rocky! He is the tiniest little noodle of a kitten we have EVER seen! Rocky flew in late last night all the way from Roatán, Honduras in search of his furever home in SF, so of course we had to go pick him up at the airport! This tiny Caribbean Islander is very cute and very playful and would be an ideal addition to your cat fam.

🌈Jeremy Bearimy🌈 I've been seeing this guy come around for at least two years. This picture of him is from 2022 when he chose to pose for my security camera. Back then he was fluffier and looked healthier. Then he disappeared for a while but whenever he showed up he looked scragglier, sadder, often soaked to the bone and drenched in the rain. I wondered if a family abandoned him outside and left him to fend for himself. This past Monday he walked softly into a trap I had set. The neuter clinic said he was underweight, he looked thin and worn down, he had scars on his beans and his face was tired and sad. He was starving so I gave him as much kitten food as he could eat. He never raised a paw at me or tried to strike or bite in the day I took care of him, despite the pain and the fear he was in. He got sick so fast that I had to rush him to the ER late last night. They determined he wasn't a good candidate for treatment and unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to JerBear as quickly as we had said hello. No matter how many times I have to do that, it still wrecks me.

Don't abandon your cats outside. If they're lucky, someone else will pick up the pieces and pay the bill. If they're not, they could die alone and suffering with no one around.

It's #TastyTuesday! Sorry for the late post, I was busy with our newest bottle baby. Phillip has never seen a 🥝 kiwi before but he had zero hesitations. 10/10 excellent flavor.

A quick update since multiple people have been concerned. It's a stainless steel lick mat! This one is by Peggy11 (I am not being endorsed by them) but Phillip uses a steel mat for his safety because he will ingest silicone. 😹 It is not how he hurt his mouth. He hurt himself chewing on hay or artichoke. #notacheesegrater

Phil hurt his mouth and I don't expect him to be very polite about this later, so he's getting his pre-visit meds in a treat and his nails trimmed before we go to the vet today. He can be a snappy guy, and this is the best way can do his nails without fighting or getting bit!

Mew Beginnings

I was just living my life out in Arizona. You know how sometimes things just don’t work out? Maybe it was a mid-life crisis. Well, next thing I know I’m packing my bag and booking a ticket out on Desert Paws for San Furrancisco! Sometimes you just need a change of scenery.

Now I’m living it up in my old age and sharing my home with a few new family members. Who would I be if I didn’t share my wealth of love and happiness? They might say I’m short in leg but I won’t have anypawdy say I’m short in generosity! Cats from all walks of life have taken shelter in my home. I remember what it was like when I needed a second chance; why not pay it forward? I love mugging for the camera and so do my foster friends. Maybe you’ll find your new family member in my photos just like I found my new family. I love my new home in the Bay!
