Hopping into the Easter spirit in an “egg-citing” sweet little town! 🪺🐣🥚
Germans love to decorate their cities and villages for Easter and Bad Wildungen is not an exception! The people are really proud of their flower arrangements and decorations and these are real tourist attractions. It is difficult to say which city puts up the most beautiful decorations, because these are all different in their own ways, but nonetheless worth to see to get into the ! 🌹💐🌸

Ready for spring adventures?
Tip no. 1 for this spring: Edersee 🇩🇪
With the Easter Holiday just a few hours away and the weather turning warmer and sunnier every day, what keeps you inside? There is no better time than now to take a breath of fresh air and soak in the stunning views of Edersee (or Lake Eder if you prefer) right in the middle of Germany. This really is one of my favourite destinations for every season, but especially for the spring. A former river turned into a lake by a majedtoc dam. This gorgeous view is from castle Waldeck, just up on the hill. Tel me in the comments if you have been here and if you liked it here or if you plan to come.

Free time, food, walkies. What could you need more?
In Ireland they say: there is not bad weather, only wrong clothes. I will try to comfort myself with this idea and enjoy my walk in Nieder-Werbe today. There are some nice things to explore hier, like the church tower in the lake, the old restaurant which had the first ever Telefone in the area more than 100 years ago, the local museum or the national park Kellerwald. Looks like it is gonna be a long walk after all. 😊

A princess needs a castle. Or more. 😁One of my favourite „residences“ is Castle Waldeck, in the gorgeous . A lovely castle, a great view over the lake and a very exquisite and cosy hotel and restaurant The only thing that I need to change there is the merchandise in the shop. They are selling as fluffy toy raccoons, not dachshunds! I like to go there often, so if you are around, there are great chances to meet my royal highness. ❤️ And another bonus: Castle Waldeck is included in the German Fairytale Route, aka . How cool is that? 🧚‍♂️

I for one had a lot of fun with the challenge "Mittelgebirgsstürmer" created by Naturpark Habichtswald Here you have to conquer 10 peaks. It is true that this one, Brasselsberg, is only 434,2 m high, but do you imagine what this means for the short doxie paws? It is almost Mount Everest! 🗻

It’s no secret that winter is not my favourite season. These days I rather recall the sunny times. Especially those at Edersee, or Lake Eder, which I proudly call home. I love to walk the Edersee Dam and be surrounded by water, stone and wood, “above us only sky” - to quote a famous song. You may say I’m a dreamer, but hey… each of us his own 😉.
The dam is a great view during the winter months too, so if you are in the area, don’t miss it. You might even get to see me around, cause I walk very often there.

Have you ever heard of Atlantis? I bet you have. But do you know that there is a smaller Atlantis in the very heart of Germany? You can even visit it for a few weeks every year, when the waters of Lake Edersee are low enough to reveal the ruins below. Abandoned walls of old houses, which had to be left behind in order for the lake to emerge. I am often asked why I find this place so interesting. Maybe it is because I see beyond the stones. I see stories and dreams, hopes and sorrows. I like to imagine the lives of the people that lived here. And of the dogs that lived here, of course.

Hope you are playing the song in your head. And hope you like it as much as I loved my trip to the “Lüneburger Heide“, a large wonderful heathland located in the north of Germany. Flowers and moors, forests and blue august skies. One of the many trips I took this summer and haven’t got the chance yet to post about.
How was your summer? Which great places you have seen and would recommend? I am already working on my trip list for next year 😊

A short while ago we paid a visit to this great winery Weingut & Weinhotel Sandwiese only because they have Dachshund wines! How cool is that?
We chose the “long” ones, of course, but they also have short and wired 😁 And guess what? They are sooooo tasty!
This is no paid publicity, we really just decided to drive there and buy what ever suits us. You can also order online, of course. They have really good wines and some more goodies for humans too 😉

I love being in the woods. Can you tell how happy I am? The mountains, the nature, and most of all the native area of my mom - the gorgeous Hasmas mountains. What can be better than a warm spring day, the clear blue sky and the possibility to roam freely (fortunately not disturbed by bears 🙈)? Thank you spring, you have been great, now let the summer come!

Time. What is that by the way? I know the time to eat, to sleep, the walkie time and the cuddling time. Is that more to it? As far as I am concerned, I think this is more than enough for a little doxie.
On the other hand, here I am in front of Siegfried‘s mechanical Music Museum Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett , a lovely and interesting exhibition of a lot of fun and noisy things: over 350 instruments dating from three centuries. How cool is that?- but I suppose a doxie understands of music just as much as she understands of time 🙈 Still I had a lot of fun there. It has a lovely garden and you can hear music outside. Definitely worth a visit! Rüdesheim am Rhein is such a lovely city! ❤️

Rare sight of me and my mom posing in a magic forest in Carnac. And what a lovely and thrilling walk was that! The most beautiful and magical forest I have ever been in. So quiet, peaceful and at the same time mysterious. I fell in love with that place and can hardly wait to go back. Carnac, do you have room for one dachshund (and his family for that matter ☺️)?

Am I up to something again? Well of course. Walking 600 km with my teeny tiny paws. I do have 4 months for that and I already walked 85 km 😁. Plus, the summer is meant for spending time outside. There is more than plenty of time to sleep during the winter.

Now honestly, who doesn’t love the cherry blossoms? Especially enjoyed from up in the cherry tree?
Tens and tens of cherry trees in Witzenhausen/Hessen - and only a few more days to enjoy. So pack your rucksacks and head there!

Let's play the "Find the Easter Doxie" game. 🙂
How did you survive Easter? (This is another way of asking how much weight you did gain 🙂 ).
I took a few walks, just to fool myself that I burn at least some of the calories. But the good part was that I saw some beautiful Easter decorations, like for example here, in Bad Wildungen, on the German Fairy Tale Route, aka I think it is time I upload a new video from this magical tour, wouldn't you say?
