Our Story

Here at Peaceful Storm Aussies we breed registered Toy and Miniature Australian Shepherds. Our dogs live with us in our home, located in Southwest Virginia, and sleep on our couches or where ever else they find a spot to claim as theirs. Due to our passion for the Australian Shepherd in the smaller sizes, we began our adventure in establishing our own breeding program of toys and minis in January 2016 with the purchase of Cooper.

Even though our breeding program is just getting started, we are not new to the breed. Kimberly purchased her first Aussie, Duke, in 1995 from a local farm boy at the county Fair. Duke was a Red Merle bi with a butterfly (pink) nose and lived to the ripe age of 17 years old. In December 2013 we purchased our first Miniature Australian Shepherd, Hardy. Here we are now with our own breeding program, which we are excited about. We adore our aussies and their various sizes.

Dog training and dog behavior is another passion of Kimberly’s. She’s trained our dogs in obedience, tricks (titled), beginner agility, barn hunt (titled), disc, and conformation (titled). She’s began showing our aussies in 2017 with their debut at the ASDR Hoosier Roundup Show in Crawfordsville, IN.

Our goals for our program is to produce quality dogs that are both structurally and mentally sound. Conformation is key, as well as temperament. Any dog in our program must have an “off-switch”, regardless if they are high drive or low drive. Some of our lines will make great sports dogs, while others will make great pets for an active family or even make solid service dogs.
