Mr Rope’s second nursery run last weekend. He knew where he was going to find the sheep this time. He did get a little discombobulated starting the drive but we got it lined back out and the rest was fine.
Billy boy yesterday, nine months old. I’m mostly just walking about encouraging him to walk quietly behind the sheep and quit thinking about coming around to the front. Cover is not something I worry about in this pup.
This was Eve’s second place open run over the weekend. We still have some kinks to work out but are getting there.
Meet Casey, he’s a young dog Blake brought home when he got Joker (imp Tadgh x imp Skye, one of my breeding). Casey is by Joker and out of a cattle bred bitch the farmer had. He’s a sweetheart but poor guy had never been anywhere or met anyone and he is quite the worried softy about all this new stuff. He really really wants to be my friend so I think he’ll come around alright. I’ll haul him to some trials to hang out and socialize this winter and then will be looking for a permanent landing spot spring/summer. By then he should have a pretty good handle on him on the sheep and be a useful guy.
Lyn’s winning open ranch run today, yesterday she got second place. She listened really well and as usual handles and reads her sheep excellently. 😁. Her pups are almost 9 weeks old and all in their new homes
Eve is in love with this pup 🤣
Rope’s first sheepdog trial! He was a good boy and tried hard. He did stop on the outrun and want to turn back toward the exhaust sheep but I stopped him and turned him back up the field, if not for that we’d have placed a lot better but he did score a 75. Eve and Lyn did good for me too but no videos. Round two tomorrow.
Pending
A friend sent him to me, I haven’t had one of these nose hunting types in a long time lol. This clip is from his second look at cattle and has so far shown no inclination to bite anything but on the nose. There’s a longer version on my YouTube where he gets kicked and stepped on which happens before the stuff in this video I’m posting, I’ll link it below, but obviously it doesn’t slow him down long. It also has a number of videos of him on sheep. He’s about a year old and doesn’t have papers but he goes back to Humphries’s Chili Dog and my old Bart dog among others. He’s a pretty shade of dark red.
He can be a bit of a knucklehead and doesn’t get his feelings hurt. Kind of a big dumb rude pup lol. Likes to chase the other dogs when they’re playing in the yard, which is obnoxious. He is crate trained and has traveled a bit with no problems.
Located in Foster, OK but I’ll be traveling to Cross Plains, TX this weekend if that helps anyone.

Let Teddy Bear play in the round pen a bit today. Third time seeing sheep, he is five months old. Poncho x Key from Jennifer Ewers.
Sheep rearranging the other day with Lyn and silly sheep guard dogs.
Rope is getting a handle on inside flanks, driving farther away and such. He still has some dumb young dog moments lol. He’ll be two the end of January.
The other day all the rams got sorted off the ewes. Here is Lyn taking them up to their little pasture for the rest of the year.
