We, and Ellie, Need You!
All life is valuable and precious and deserving of good things. That is exactly what Ellie will get from now on.
One of our board members found Ellie walking slowly, disoriented down the middle of a street. This little four-pound, emaciated being clearly needed help. Upon being greeted and lifted up to safety, Ellie’s immediate purring was a sweet reward to the one who found her.
Ellie was in shocking shape when we found her and was taken immediately to a local E.R. Her left eye is clearly severely damaged and infected. It was obvious that Ellie had a hard time seeing anything. Her gait was stiff when she walked, and cautious. She was dirty and her fur matted, it was obvious that she had been alone and without care for a very long time. Just how did Ellie survive?
And the fact that she is blind in her left eye and maybe shadow seeing in her right means she wandered sick and weak, unable to find food or water. There is no muscle or fat on this girl, she is literally all skin and bones. She was starving and dehydrated. But she is safe now and will receive the care she needs, and all the love that comes with it.
Ellie has a long road ahead of her and we need your help. Upon her visit with our regular vet, here is what we found out about Ellie:
💥 She has a grade 4 heart murmur (4 out of 6)
💥 Bloodwork shows that she has severe heart disease (further testing will help identify better what that is)
💥 Her left eye most likely will need to be removed and her right eye examined by a specialist for proper diagnosis
💥 She is extremely malnourished
💥 She most likely has arthritis in her back legs / hips
💥 She is anywhere between 10 and 15 years old!
Before proceeding, we need to have an Echocardiogram of her heart to make sure she is strong enough to withstand being under anesthesia as needed moving forward with her care. This will also help us identify the condition of her heart as well as treatment options.
Though we are primarily a Pit bull rescue, we have rescued other souls in need as they are sent to us. And Ellie is no different.
We cannot believe how strong this little girl is, but her easy purring is a loud expression of her gratitude for having the very basics: food, water, a warm and safe place to lay her head and love.
Ellie came to us for a reason and we are going to make sure that she gets nothing but the best. Will you walk with us in supporting Ellie as she journeys these next steps of healing?
Our hearts, and that of one very precious life, thank you!
