So we were asked could we help a mum and five kittens. Maz has contacted so many places and no one could help. Sadly that’s the case at the moment. We agreed to help and I sorted space.

We knew mummy could go back as she has a feeder. Last night I successfully trapped mummy and she went straight off to the vets for spaying today the kittens were old enough to be left. Rain stopped play last night so I left my traps there. Maz has managed to trap four of the five kittens today. Pauline has taken two in and I have taken two in to hold whilst space comes up. I will also take the other one when caught. So that’s another family sorted and no more babies for mummy. She will be taken back tomorrow as we wanted her to have a day or so rested at the vets. But the most important thing was she was spayed. X

The kittens around 6/7 weeks old are very scared but they will come round. X

These are the two I have in. I don’t know the s*x of them yet I’m leaving them to settle for now. Both been flea treated and I’ll worm them also. I’ll spend the time they are with me. Handling them to get them used to me. They are two little cuties. X

Another family sorted or will be when the last kitten is trapped. Xx

This is the poor pregnant mummy cat who was left in a carrier outside one of our foster teams homes. No history. No age. We will give her a rescue name also. She’s been checked at the vets today and is in foster with us tonight.

Again she won’t be having anymore litters after this one. Xx

Poor babies I often wonder what they feel. They do have feelings. We are their voice. We have to be. And my voice can be the loudest. Xx

When you are presented with this photo. What do you do??

This photo was taken after I had seen a photo which wasn’t as bad. Then I saw this….

Poor poor boy. Living outside. Being fed but it’s not enough. Four years outside. Surviving. Not neutered.

His name is snowy apparently. I will change that to a new rescue name. To give an identity for his new rescue life. He’s fiv positive what a surprise. We cannot home any of our fiv positive cats. But he deserves a chance ? Fiv isn’t a death sentence. People just need more of an understanding at what it is.

He’s been neutered now. He’s in foster with us. I have found temporary catio space for him. I’ll worry about what I do next with him.

Here are the ones who were dumped at the vets. A trio of beautiful boys. 12 weeks old. They seem ok. Flea and wormed as they needed it.

Patton, Pawnee and Pendeen are their rescue names. These babies will get what they need and they will go onto a better life.

Just to touch on the abandoning post. I know people say good job they were left at a vets. It is yes. Definitely. But rescue space has to be found the vets cannot keep any cats indefinitely. There was a little bit of negativity. I responded to be met with some kind of argument. I stated facts only. Rescue is hard enough without feeling we have to justify or say it how it is. Do all of them get rescue space. No they don’t.

Anyway these are safe. They are in tonight.

Appealing for our gorgeous chandler.

Chandler is the boy who needs urgent surgery. Chandler came into us a sorry sight. He was a street boy. He came in we had him neutered and also a dental done as his mouth was in a horrific mess. When his dental was done his breathing just wasn’t good at all. He also came in pretty unfriendly but he’s come round so so much now. X

So we have had him in for checks. X-rays. Bloods. And he has a diaphragmatic hernia this is usually a birth defect but can also be caused by a fall or trauma. We just don’t know. But he’s been like this since he arrived. He has an opening in his diaphragm so his organs are in his chest which is why he’s struggling to breathe. So we need to get this surgery done asap. It is really serious x

We have a quote of £1750. Which is a really good price for this kind of surgery. Just not within our reach at the moment so we are having to reach out to see if anyone can help us. Every penny counts even if it is a £1 donation. It all adds up. X

Abandoning.

This is happening far too often. Someone has dumped three kittens at a vets overnight. Poor little things were soaked.

Also one of my fosterers opened her door this morning to bring the milk in. Oh guess what there was a cat box there with a cat in. No idea how long the poor cat has been there but a note which said. You help cats. You help this one. Guess what she’s pregnant too. Not chipped. It’s getting beyond a joke. We are under pressure as are many other rescues right now.

We also have an expensive surgery an urgent one to do for one of our cats. I will have to appeal for help for him as we are struggling all round at the moment and he needs this surgery done as it is life threatening. More about him later. Xx

I am also heading to Leeds tonight. Mum and kittens in a garden. As much as we are struggling we are just shuffling round right now to help these and the ones above. But there is only so much juggling around we can do before we have to say we just physically cannot help anymore. Unless we have a real rush on homing we will be in that position very soon once all these come in and then as many rescues have done we will have to close the doors which is also always a difficult decision. But the vet bills are still high. We are working on paying off what we can when we can so this additional surgery will just push them back up, but it needs doing. Sadly sometimes any of our cats can end up being ill or needing a surgery we didn’t expect. 😢😢😢

Totally stressful right now. And one of the reasons we are saying no to most who contact us right now is the majority we have helped have been abandoned and vet referral ones. They just keep on coming. 😔😔😔😔

These became a priority given where they were.

I was presented with this photo of this little family. I thought hmm that gap isn’t very big. I spoke with Diane who was looking out for them and mummy was going for breakfast every day. So we secured her first easy enough. I had taken a fishing net with me wasn’t easy as I couldn’t get in that gap myself but between the fishing net and a broom handle I managed to flick them into my net with the broom handle . 😂😂. You have to be inventive sometimes.

We have so many cats and kittens in and our food and litter bill is always huge. We have updated our Amazon wish list. It doesn’t have a lot on it but we have increased quantities on what we use the most.

Emergency intake. He was at risk and we were asked by two people in rescue to see if we could help. They had helped another one also but had no space for this lad. Thankfully due to one getting a home offer we could bring him in.

Problem with his eye. Looks like an old injury but we need to get him checked out. Also that tongue is a little worrying also. Possibly dental. Possible mouth issues. Hopefully nothing sinister. We just don’t know. He’s eating which is a good sign but every photo I have of him his tongue is out. We shall see.

Guess what he isn’t neutered ? 😏😏

All the cats get a rescue name. We have named him Gilroy. I will report back on Gilroy when he’s been to the vets hopefully early next week.

Thundersly . Male. Approx 12 years old

You may remember this gorgeous boy who came into rescue as an unclaimed, unneutered stray in real mess.
Thundersly is a rescue cat in every sense of the word. He has had a clean, a shave, a dental and lots of Henry’s TLC.
He is a friendly lad who loves a cuddle and deserves a home with someone who will love and keep him forever. He is a real foodie!
Thundersly is fine to live with other friendly cats.

Samara. Female . Approx 4 years old
This beautiful girl is one of our long term fosters. She was originally surrendered to rescue and was ready to find her her home but then it became apparent that there was something not quite right.
Further investigations revealed that Samara has asthma. She has stayed in rescue until we could be confident her asthma was stable and manageable.
She requires a very special home. One that can ensure she receives her daily medication and inhaler, indoor only and free from allergens that may trigger her asthma (cigarette smoke, wax melts etc).
Samara also has allergen free prescription food.

We understand that Samara is a huge responsibility to take on but we hope there is someone out there who can commit to her both emotionally and financially.
We estimate the additional costs for Samaras care to be around £200 per quarter. The first costs after adoption will be covered by the rescue.

Samara is a lovely friendly girl, she likes to play and interact with you. She would need to be the only pet in the home due to her specific needs.

Samara is microchipped and neutered and is available for adoption immediately. 5 weeks free insurance is also provided by Agria.

Always so nice when one of our street boys get a new home xx

Remember hoflin. He had a two week stay in the vets due to a really nasty injury on his paw. It took some healing. Aged around 7 and he wasn’t neutered either but he is now ! X

Thank you so much to Vets for Pets Leeds Birstall 24/7 Small Animal Hospital for their care of Hoflin. At one point we thought he may lose his leg but thankfully and even though very costly his leg was saved xx

Another one of our older boys. 7 year old Alfonso has left for his new home. Adult homing is so slow at the moment which is why we are struggling to help any adult cats right now but we are super pleased for Alfonso. He’s gone to live with two others adopted from us a couple of years ago. X

This gorgeous trio of babies are now big and strong enough to leave for their new homes after being hand reared.
Callagun wasn’t too well as a little one and had cat flu but he has recovered well and all are happy, healthy and well socialised little guys who love human interaction and company.

Looby. Female. Approx 18 months old

Looby came into rescue whilst pregnant. Her mummy duties have now finished and she is ready to be a young cat herself and enjoy the rest of her life!

Looby is very playful and loves zooming around, she would benefit from safe outdoor access. She is very friendly and can sometimes get carried away with her love bites when playing or fussing so wouldn’t be suitable to a home with very young children.

Looby has had mixed reactions to other cats, some positive, some not so. A home where she is the only cat will give her the most successful chance of a forever home.

Mo. Female. Approx 2 years old

Mo came into rescue after being abandoned with her new born babies and was thankfully found and taken to a vet. Mummy duties have now finished and Mo is ready to be a young cat herself and enjoy the rest of her life!

Mo loves attention from humans and is a BIG purrer! She is definitely a lapcat. .

Mo does not like the company of other cats.

Neutered and microchipped she is available for adoption from IMMEDIATELY.

Bento. Male. Approx 7 years old
This handsome gent came into rescue as an unclaimed stray in terrible condition with missing fur, sore patches and was very thin.
Bento is one of our longest serving cats, his condition when he arrived has meant that he has needed a lot of time and TLC to get on top of things. He is now looking amazing!
Bento has an allergy to dust and storage mites. He required a long course of steroids when he came in to manage the condition but is no longer on medication and would only need medication should he have a flare up of his allergy in the future.
He is a very friendly lad who deserves a home with someone who will love and keep him forever. He loves human company and would prefer to be the only cat.

He is microchipped and neutered and is available for adoption immediately. 5 weeks free insurance is also provided by Agria.

He too wasn’t in the best of condition when he arrived, he’s very well now but…..he has a grade 4 heart murmur which doesn’t require any treatment right now. We know it won’t be easy to find him a home. And he too hasn’t had a single application either. But you can insure for pre existing conditions. We do offer 5 weeks free insurance too. Some wait such a long time for their happy ever after. We hope one day Mint will get to have a home of his own. Hale 💙💙

Please share. Hale has been in rescue now 10 months. When he came in he wasn’t in the best of conditions. He did become poorly but has gone on to make a full recovery. And is in great health now. Sadly a lot of the cats and kittens who come in haven’t had the best start. Hale hasn’t had one application. He’s 11 month now and we would love to see him in with his own family. A home of his own. Finally hoflin is out of the vets. Two weeks he’s been in after initially being brought in as a stray we offered to help with his operation on his paw and he was to be released as he had a feeder but the operation showed the wound to be much worse than initially thought. So we then said we would take him on. His bill has cost us well over £2000 unexpected but he needed help and he had no one to help him. His paw is looking amazing now. He’s on crate rest just for a week whilst I manage his medications. Then he can go in the catio. He’s friendly I have had a few head bumps. Oh and he’s now castrated too ! Welcome to Henry’s gorgeous boy. Xx

Here are the babies who were found in a carrier in pontefract park yesterday. Thankfully they are in good health. So sad again that more have been abandoned. It’s happening so often. They look bigger on the video but around 5/6 weeks old. They are safe. It’s so sad to know their mummy is out there. We just pray wherever she is. She will get neutered so this doesn’t happen again. Two boys. One girl. We will pick them a name. Thank you to Jill who has taken them into foster and thank you to the vets at Whitwood for taking them in after being found. X
