Know the difference.

It has become apparent that there is often confusion as to what the difference is between an APBT, the English Bull Terrier ( the correct name for a Bull Terrier), a Staffordshire Bull Terrier ( correct name for the staffie), the American Staffordshire ( amstaff) and the American Bully.

However did you know, firstly pit bulls are dogs? Their basic behaviour is that of a canine, where they differ vastly is their breed specific behaviour.

Some dogs loose their tolerance of other dogs as they mature and when this happens with a pit bull, and his or her breed specific behaviour kicks in the results are brutal.

Folks don't set your dog up to be the next newsworthy statistic.

Don't risk someone elses beloved pet, keep your dog leashed

Don't walk through the suburbs.

Stay away from play dates and dog parks
Remember, there is no time frame on this, sometimes one day they decide they no longer want to tolerate other dogs. AND THAT IS OK.. what is important is what you do next. Keep your dog and other dogs safe

Plan for this day from the day you bring your pit bull home, so that you can keep your other pets safe. And be vigilint and supervise all the time. Split pets when you are not home

For once and for all we would like to dispel the MYTH that the pit bull was once known as the nanny dog. IT NEVER WAS! This myth was created by over zealous advocates and based on vintage photos of children with their pit bulls.
This is a very dangerous idea to put into parents heads, as many believe it and leave small children unsupervised with their pit bulls. Yes the American Pit Bull is a very tolerant dog. They are good with children. But tolerance does have its boundaries. Be smart folks, dogs are not substitute baby sitters. PREVENT BITES!
As a point of interest, the staffie is known as the nanny dog in the UK.
