Thought of the Week
This time of year isn’t joyous for me—it’s hell. While others celebrate, gather and exchange gifts, I brace myself for the flood of heartbreak.
I watch as loyal, loving pets are discarded like trash. Dogs who spent years curled up in bed with their families are tossed aside because they’re suddenly “too old”. Puppies given as Christmas presents are dumped once the novelty wears off. Owners swap their dogs for something “newer”, “cuter”, or “easier”.
The betrayal is endless and sickening.
But have you ever really thought about what happens next? Have you ever heard the sound of a dog—a dog who knew love, safety and belonging—thrown into a cold, concrete cell?
Have you heard their cries, their confusion and their heartbreak as they realize their family isn’t coming back for them?
Listen to the clip. That sound you hear is raw pain. That is betrayal. That is the cost of human selfishness.
Stop being crappy humans.
They deserve better. Do better.
Update on Ben!
Ben is extremely happy to be back, and we couldn’t be happier to have him with us again! It’s so clear that this is where he feels safe and loved. We’re almost finished with his room, and hopefully by early next week, we can start painting and making it truly his own special space. After that, we’ll be working on making his outside area more cheerful and cozy too.
Ben deserves the best, and we can’t wait to see him settled in and enjoying his new home! Stay tuned for more updates as we get everything ready for him. 🐾💛
🧡 Meet Waffels – Our Resilient Boy! 🧡
Waffels, our 5-year-old Labrador X, is slowly but surely learning that not all humans are bad. After the hardships he’s endured, he’s finally feeling safe and showing us his joyful, full-of-life spirit! 🐾
It’s been a journey, but Waffels is starting to relax and trust. Soon, we’ll be introducing him to a few of our other kennel dogs to get a sense of his preferences and help him find companionship that suits him best.
We’re excited to watch him grow and explore this next chapter of healing. 🧡

🌟 **Mali Update** 🌟
We recently took sweet Mali to the vet, and unfortunately, she wasn't microchipped. But don't worry, this brave girl will soon be microchipped and sterilized in the upcoming weeks! 🩺✨
In the meantime, we've kickstarted her vaccinations, and Mali has already made two new friends at the kennels. She’s showing her strong, loving spirit every day, and we couldn’t be prouder of her progress. 💖🐾

We have some heartwarming news to share! Our little Jack Russell puppy, Cody, has found her forever home, and it’s safe to say she has already found her best friend too! 🐾
Cody has formed a special bond with Luna, her new gentle giant Boerboel sister. Despite their size difference, these two are inseparable, proving that love knows no bounds. Watching them play together is pure joy, and we couldn’t be happier for Cody and Luna.

Our two rescue doggys from Delt are doing so great!
I thought I had seen it all in rescue, but clearly not. We were asked to uplift an unwanted boy in Delft. This Collie mix boy was so scared, and his chain wasn't even long enough to reach the kennel that was just 1 meter away from him.
In the far distance, we suddenly saw a milk crate move! With horror, we saw a 6-month-old Collie mix puppy underneath the crate. The reason: "We put her in the crate to relax the whole day, but she sleeps inside." We left with both the boy and the puppy, both very thin and covered with ticks and fleas.
Thank you Michelle Baker Mohr for helping to save these to presious souls!
The little girl definitely has Billary, and both will go for a vet check.
Mommy Bear looking so much better. She will be going to her foster home this afternoon.
