We had to say a very sad goodbye to special Faldo.
It was an honour to support you when you were struggling with pain and mobility.
I value all the time I got to spend with you.

Let’s talk about elbow dysplasia in dogs.
This is a condition where the bones that make up the elbow joint (the humerus, radius and ulna) don’t fit together perfectly or when there are ununited parts of the bones.
After your veterinarian performs a thorough evaluation and takes radiographs to diagnose the condition, they will discuss treatment options.
Surgery is often required, but sometimes conservative plans are an option too.
Either way, getting an experienced pet physiotherapist on board is the best way forward.
Giant and large breeds are more predisposed to this condition.
Diagnosing the condition sooner allows for addressing it and possibly limiting long-term troubles.
Once the cartilage inside the joint sustains damage, it triggers the development of arthritis, which becomes irreversible.
Arthritis is painful and diminishes quality if life.
If you have a large or giant breed dog showing signs of a front limb lameness, please have them screened for elbow dysplasia by your veterinarian.

Rocky is a resilient HerO!
This boy has had surgery in both knees and has multi-joint arthritis.
He is under my hands for hands-on therapy as well as hydrotherapy to keep his muscles strong and body agile.
This guy is strong, stoic and super sweet.
I have so much love for him!

4 months following surgery check in with Isla
It is 4 weeks after sweet Isla had patella luxation corrective surgery done.
She is doing so well! She had a course of acupuncture treatment with the vet.

Exercises with Mimi for better muscle engagement and posture
Another lovely session with Mimi.
We did some exercises to promote core muscle activation, a better posture, improved hind limb muscle activation and balance.
She has that typical "cowboy" hind limb stance with both knees facing outwards.
This is an compensatory posture due to her luxating patellae.
Using the balance disc is a nice way to shift body weight back onto her hind limbs as well as challenge body balance.
