To shine a light and create awareness of the importance of having an AfterSchool Programme, is the objective of the Lights-On campaign.

RA Educator, Lee shared some ideas with our Youth Team and encouraged them to use their creativity to come up with something different. The learners in our 4 schools, loved all the ideas and had a wonderful time creating! Let’s hope you all see the benefit of the extra work done to assist struggling children in their goal to move through High School successfully.

To let loose or to lead? 🤔

It can be pretty tough to accept that not everyone will welcome your bestie into their space with the same enthusiasm and love as you would. The proverbial call of ‘don’t worry, he’s friendly’, has left many a pet parent (or hiker, runner, or cyclist) with a sense of fear and dread 😨 Everyone should be able to enjoy their outing in a peaceful and calm environment, even if that means leashing up your beloved companion for a few minutes. Here are some points to remember the next time you take your fur baby out for a walk:

1. Choose your setting: Dog parks are best for free-roaming as other dogs that frequent them are generally more sociable 🤗
2. Read the room: When you see a fellow pet parent approaching and their dog is on lead, or they quickly leash up when they see you, it is probably for a reason 👀
3. Be ready to clip: No matter where you decide to take your fur child or how well behaved they are, make sure you have a suitable means to control them and keep them safe; like a harness or lead 🙌

For Mandela Day 2024, ROGZ celebrated PEOPLE AND PETS! 100 Teacher Appreciation gifts, scarves and heartwarming letters were distributed to the involved teachers at the 4 schools we work with in Dunoon and Joe Slovo through ROGZ Academy. Scarves were handknitted by pupils at Elkanah House High, special Jam Jars filled by staff at ROGZ HQ and beautiful heartfelt notes were written by the YeBoneers. The teachers were overwhelmed and felt very appreciated! Three pet charities were also very happy to be gifted a box each of ROGZ gear - Fallen Angels Pet Rescue, Animal Anti-Cruelty League Cape Town, and Animal Welfare Society of SA.
