SNiP Now shared this very informative post regarding female fertility and reproduction.
They wrote:
"We have had a few calls from people worried their cats are in pain as they are exhibiting symptoms of yowling and other unusual behaviors (rubbing all over items). What these individuals are describing is their female cat having heat cycles which can occur in females as young as 4-months of age. Yowling, rubbing, raising the behind up in the air (lordosis reflex), spraying, the desire to go outside and find a mate...are all symptoms that can occur during a female cat's heat cycle. Sometimes females can appear more loving and other times females can have more aggressive tendencies during this cycle."

Remember that spaying a cat will eliminate these behaviors as well as help control the cat population.
Please have your cat spayed by 4 months of age!

A Reminder - baby Squirrels running after you and clinging to the leg of your pants are not rabid ! They are doing this out of sheer desperation because they have lost their mom and have been lacking care for days. Young Squirrels are an exception in the animal kingdom - when they have lost contact with their mom and suffer hunger and thirst, they gather all their courage and purposefully seek help from humans. Most of these animals are also injured by a fall from a tree. Help them. Please never hurt them.

This is Jesse, who has a bad ear infection. She was taken to Animal welfare for the swollen ear, often caused by mites or yeast infection. The dog scratches the ear, shakes the head and a bubble forms in the inside of the ear.She was operated on and sent home. Unfortunately Jesse ear continues to give issues and now is a full blown ear infection with pus, pain and inflammation. Rebecca Steele took her to Teva and she received a pain and an antibiotic injection. We wait to hear tomorrow the outcome.
Because the owner battles to get near the ear, we are opting for a once off ear drop treatment , antibiotic with long half life. R500. Otherwise it's back and forth daily to sort the ear with drops instilled.
Our funds are low and we are appealing for someone to sponsor the drops. We will have to pay for anaesthetic in order to completely flush and clean the ear before the drops are instilled. Please help us help Jesse if you can
