For some pensioners, their pets are all they have and they are like their children to them. Yolanda's boy Ginger is currently at Hout Bay Vets on a drip. His treatment is going to cost approximately R2000. Please consider donating however big or small towards his vet bill, as every cent helps. We are really hoping he pulls through and can be reunited with his mum.

Anna still needs your help. She didn't go to the applicants who applied for her and is still looking for her forever home. This poor baby is depressed and is not adjusting well to life in a shelter. 😔 Her owner lost everything and couldn't take her with her. Anna is a sweet and loving cat. There were two dogs living with her so she should be ok with a slow intro to other dogs. She is best suited as an only cat and is about 8 yrs old. Please share so Anna can find a home.

There is no dog more deserving of a home than Pamela. She's the most loving, goofy, sweet and cuddly baby at DARG and all she wants is love. Incredibly athletic, Pamela adores racing after her ball on the field and she'd make an amazing running buddy. She's also a water baby and enjoys a dip in the paddle pool on hot days. Toys and balls are her favourite things after cuddles. This special girl needs a mum or dad who has experience with bully breeds. She is not suitable to a home with young children. Pamela can walk with other dogs but needs to be an only pet. (Pamela is slightly bigger than a Staffie and is +/- 7 years old.) Strict adoptions rules apply.

Dr Nardus is at it again! In 2023 he and his wife, Debbie made a significant financial contribution towards the purchase of medical equipment for the DARG Clinic. This allowed us to open the clinic sooner rather than later.

Little Ginger who was found on the street in the rain has found the perfect permanent foster home. She is the apple of her mum's eye and is so loved. We miss her funny little walk and sunny personality but are so happy she is finally in a safe and loving home. 🩷

Pippa has the 3 C's we all look for in a new friend: she's clever, cute, and a good companion. 🩷Her understanding of 'leave-it' is brilliant, and she knows how to climb up a slide and then jump from one tyre to the next. 😀 She has the cutest repertoire of facial expressions and is so engaging. Pippa enjoys playing with other dogs and with her toys. Her all-round adorable personality is simply the best. 🐾🐾

Luca was brought into DARG with a broken back leg. His mum and our clinic manager were on the verge of tears as he is such a tiny pup and he was in a lot of pain. We are happy to announce that his leg is going to be OK and he will be on strict cage rest until he is fully healed. Thank you to all of our supporters who make it possible for us to help Luca and all the other animals in Hangberg and Imizamo Yethu. 🙏

No life! Chained as a tiny puppy, Drake new nothing but boredom, fear and loneliness. Since coming to DARG, he has discovered loving humans, fun games and the freedom to run. This handsome young boy is very clever and treat focused and is a quick learner. Drake is a very loving and engaging boy and really deserves to experience a loving home. (He has not been tested with cats.) Drake is about 2 years old. Please share his post so we can help find him a forever home.

Lucy is beyond cute and is all bum wiggles when meeting other dogs and humans! She's a happy, bright, engaging and super loveable little girl who only weighs 12 kg. Lucy would make an incredible running buddy and is always up for going on adventures. Although she adores balls, catching them is not her forte but she enjoys herself and her humans get to have a good laugh. 😄She is currently training with The Underdog Project and is doing really well. (Lucy would suit a male companion but is not good with cats) (+/- 1.5 yrs old)

Many of you will remember the post of Baby Candice who came in skeletal and covered in fleas. With a lot of TLC, she blossomed into a happy and loving little girl. We are happy to announce that Candice has found herself a mum and dad who absolutely adore her. They came to sign the adoption papers and said she has settled in so beautifully and is incredibly sweet with their children. We miss our tiniest girl at the shelter but are so thrilled for her. 🩷🐾🐾 Wishing all our supporters a week filled with sunshine and positivity.

Please share so our young boy can find a home: Max is such a handsome boy with the sweetest nature. He was brought into the shelter to be sterilised and returned to his owner who now no longer wants him. 😢 Max is an extremely loving boy who enjoys engaging with people. He cuddles with his kennel mate at night so he would do well with another canine friend. Unfortunately, he wants to chase cats. (+/-1 yrs old) (Max weighs 20 kgs)

Golden Oldies deserve their retirement homes and Hamster is no exception. He has been at DARG for many years and is so overlooked. This loving boy is super smart and engaging. Hamster also absolutely adores ball games and is a star pupil on The Underdog Project! He's good with children and would do well with a sociable female dog as a companion. (+/-10 yrs old)

For every sterilisation done at our outreach clinic, we have a cost of R60 per cone. Most of our cats go back home with a cone on and don't get returned. Please donate any small cones for cats to help keep our expenses down. Thank you 🙏

Lady is such a special dog with the cutest little smile. She's playful, sweet natured and is so well behaved on a leash. Lady is polite when meeting other dogs big and small and she likes to play with certain dogs too. After being an amazing mum to her pups, she was surrendered to DARG and has been waiting for her forever home. Lady is about 3 years old and would suit a sociable male dog as a companion. With the Underdog Project, she has been doing incredibly well with her training.

She is doing incredibly well in a foster home with a super switched-on mum and a sweet older female as a companion. We have all wanted to cry happy tears of relief that she is out of the stressful shelter and has a foster mum who is working on her leash reactivity. A big water baby who loves humans! 🩷Troy is a loving and extremely intelligent boy. He absolutely adores attention and will chat away with you asking for more cuddles and love. He also has so much fun playing with balls and toys.
Troy loves meeting dogs on walks and playing with them. He's going to make the most amazing companion! Troy has come along beautifully with his training and would do well with a well socialised dog. A secure property with high walls is necessary. Troy is about 14 months old and is in excellent health. He has had x-rays and his hips are perfect.

SA’S SMALLEST DOG CELEBRITY LAUNCHES NEW DARG COMMUNITY CLINIC

SA’s smallest dog celebrity, Mr. Miyagee SA made a grand entrance in his VW Beetle to initiate the launch of DARG’s new on-site Rush Ndou DARG Community Clinic for cats and dogs. One of the primary aspects of the Community Clinic is pet sterilisation, to combat the number of unwanted and neglected animals in the lower-income communities of Hout Bay¸ being Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg. Funding has been procured for the sterilisation of 200 animals as part of the Clinic launch, thanks to Dancers Love Dogs and a sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous. We would like to extend this to at least 500, as part of our ‘discounted launch special’. A S18A Tax Certificate and a feature on DARG’s Clinic Sponsor Board is offered for everyone who sponsors R4500 (10 sterilisations).
