My name is Michelle, the very proud owner of Cunelli Rabbitry in Centurion, Gauteng. I've always been fascinated with bunnies, and striving towards self sufficiency, rabbits seemed like a natural addition to our little farm! I started with SA Phendulas as a meat breed but very quickly fell in love with the gentle personalities and qualities of rabbits as pets. We are now proudly breeding Phendulas and Rexes, striving towards improving the breeds and producing bunnies that are both functional and loving!

It seems like the whole country is struck with a terrible heat wave, a great way to cool your outdoor bunnies down is to freeze 2l bottles and lay them in the cage for them to snuggle up to.

Remember bunnies are not great at regulating heat. Symptoms of heat stress include:
• warm/red ears
• drooling
• lethargy
• wetness around the nose
• fast breathing

Heat stress can and do cause death in rabbits so make sure your babies are safe, have plenty of water and a cool place to retreat to 🐰🌸

When the temperature goes up we need to be creative in finding ways for our buns to stay nice and cool, a great tip from one of my breeder mentors is to freeze up some 2l bottles, the bunnies all love cuddling up to the bottles when it gets too hot!

Our first litter is 10 days old, right on queue their eyes have started opening and their popcorning all over the nest! These babies are 3/4 Rex and 1/4 New Zealand and part of our dual purpose meat/fur project at home and our first time mommy, Arabella is doing a fantastic job with 8 babies! We’re also super excited about the colours and markings in this litter, it’s an all round win for this farm-momma! #rabbits #babybunnies #homestead
