Thank you thank you Claire Harms for the endless energy you put into our Optima Misslanta, the little mare with the BIGGEST heart, who we decided to restart a few months ago to work on a few issues in her foundation. Clear all day and 2nd place in her Champs class today 🥳🤩

Claire Harms and Jethro Bouwer will take some of the string out to the Foresyte Aquelle WCQ next week for some ring time before their mid-year break 🥳

Some of the horses will share classes as they don’t need loads of jumping, and some will just be tagging along to work in the warm up and the busy atmosphere.

We’re looking forward to a fun week of learning and improving the horses each day, before we take some time off and prepare for our new team mate to join us! 👶🏻

Great weekend of show jumping for an even greater cause 👏🏻
Kerry and Jethro took the mares out to jump for the Coastal Horse Care Unit and the Bright Eyes Foundation this weekend. Optima Misslanta was picture perfect back in the 1.10s. Smooth, relaxed canter, careful without over jumping 👌
Optima Cabatola PS jumps 2 clear rounds for the first time in a long time! At a very busy show she managed to trust her rider and willingly did her job for us 🙏🏽
Optima Capital Lailah jumped a clear in her first 1.20 round, just like she does at home 😂 this mare just has a temperament to die for and we will only bring her out occasionally until she’s old enough for the open classes 🥳

Huge thanks to Deirdre Fox, Ashlee Van der Merwe, Brett Webber and all of the other officials who made this show possible and reminding us what this sport is ultimately about - horses! ❤️

Kerry and Jethro took the mares out for an easy jump round in the rain this past weekend at the Canterbury show ☔️

⭐️Optima Capital Lailah jumps for the first time round the 1.15 and was dazzling! Ready for the 1.20s next show
⭐️Optima Misslanta is barely recognisable as the canter is starting to balance and collect. She will also go up a grade at the next show and spend some more time there finding confidence and rhythm
⭐️Optima Jamaica always doing her job with gusto but is going to spend a few weeks on the basics as her body is showing a little fatigue after a few months of great progress
⭐️Optima Cabatola PS finally showing some signs of trusting her rider in the ring. Shongweni Club is a venue where she gets really anxious so after one picture perfect round she scratched the rest of the day and went home with treats

Looking forward to the Triple P Show raising funds for the Coastal Horse Care Unit in 2 weeks! 💪🏻

Very very proud of this combination ✨

‘Coco’ just went out to jump one round at the show last weekend. We try and keep her show exposure really limited as the entire environment became very scary for her. Jeth had to circle her once before number 1, and you can still see her nerves at the start of the track, but they all but dissipate by the end 👏🏻

It’s an ongoing journey trying to find the recipe to make this mare happy and confident. We are treating her hormonally, found a soft gentle bit that she likes, and do most of her schooling out on hacks instead of in the school. She also now sleeps outside with her bestie which she loves!

We just want to say a big thank you to Jethro Bouwer for his ongoing patience and enthusiasm. It hasn’t been and won’t be an easy journey, but above everything else we want each horse to have a HAPPY career, and the entire team is committed to making that happen for her 🦄

Thanks so much to ShowGround Media for the amazing videos! It helps us so much to really evaluate each horse when the round is professionally filmed 🙏🏽

Good luck to Kerry and Jethro who head off to Easter Festival this week 💪🏻 None of the Optima horses will be joining them, as the priority for the string at the moment is less on shows, and more on relaxation and re schooling.

We’ll all be cheering you on from here at home! 👏🏻🏆

Such a fun weekend out last weekend at the Foresyte Show 🦄

⭐️ Optima Callaho Con Catch Me jumped an easy clear with a ticket
⭐️ Optima Miss Contha Quick jumped a good clear and showed much more relaxation in the ring
⭐️ Optima Key West had a soft rail come down but rideability keeps improving as we figure out which bit/bridle makes him comfortable. Thank you so much, Claire for your dedication to these sensitive horses

⭐️ Optima Misslanta had to have some kinks ironed out in the first round as her canter still needs major work, second round hugely improved with a confident clear. So well done, Kerry, a very tricky mare who needs lots of patience!

⭐️ Optima Jamaica jumps 2 excellent clears with a ticket in the second class as her true potential is starting to finally show

We pulled out all the spooky stuff from our bag of tricks to test our horses for the World Cup 👻 All of them were fantastic but special shout out goes to Cabatola, probably our spookiest horse who went round today without batting an eye. HUGE well done to Reine Marshall and the rest of the team for all the work that’s gone into making her so much braver 💪🏻🤩
