Khaya Hanci Horsetrails offers a unique experience of the South African bush. We rehabilitate rescue horses and use them for specially guided trails.

We offer horsebacktrails from 2 hours to 6 hours (incl. lunch ) and selfcatering overnight accommodation.

If you are moving a rhino and realize you forgot the earplugs..
A towel in your bakkie and the socks you've been wearing for the last 5- 8 days are going to do the job !!
Yes and like someone commented, luckily rhinos can't smell with their ears.

Yesterday our first eland babies of this season appeared on camera.
Something seemed a bit unusual.
We found and followed the cow and realised that the other two cows are still pregnant.
And Supermommy is nursing both calfes.
TWINS !!!
That's very rare.
Both babies are looking healthy and happy.

Ich poste so etwas nicht oft und nicht gern.
Wir brauchen Hilfe.
Wir haben hier ein nicht unerhebliches Problem mit Wilderern.
Die
1. Nashörner töten( ungefähr 1 pro Woche in unserer unmittelbaren Nähe)
2. Schlingen legen oder mit Hunden durch unsere und benachbarte Farmen laufen und Tiere töten um deren Fleisch zu verkaufen.
Bei uns heute erfolgreich.
Folgende Bilder sind von heute. Wir haben ein Team von Menschen die kommen und versuchen diese Verbrecher zu fangen..
Leider meistens erfolglos.
Was einen riesigen Unterschied machen würde wäre eine Drone mit thermal vision.
Kostenpunkt ca 6000 €.
Den Piloten haben wir, die Drone leider noch nicht.
Ideen? Leute die uns finanziell unterstützen könnten ? Jemand der in diesem Bereich jemanden kennt der sponsern würde?

Monte settled nicely into our herd.
Out on the open farm with the boys after 4 days..
We'll give him time to settle in completely and then start slowly working on fixing his back.

Our volunteers went for a Blyde Canyon Helicopter flight with Big Game Heli once again. Capture of arrival only. I've never seen Gerry come back in so very smooth ( like on train tracks).... Airsick volunteers... But all of them loved it.

Our horses are going out on the open farm nearly every evening. Our house is about 600 meters away from the main camp. This is what we get at our house. Anatolian Shepherds waiting for the horses to look after them during the night. Well ok and Maligators protecting our little camp. But to see the herd coming up to our house is something....very special. It makes my heart full.

And with Stracciatella came Marshmellow. And we immediately found his favourite scratch spot.

Khaya Hanci Horsetrails offers an experience of the South African bush like no other; the feeling of being surrounded by a tower of giraffe on horseback, hearing the fish eagle call, or cantering towards the Drakensberg Mountains is unsurpassed. Take a picturesque ride on horseback into the rugged foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains enjoying the lush vegetation and spectacular views, or a trail through the Lowveld Acacia Woodland on Moholoholo Mountain View; a Big 3 game reserve home to a wide variety of birds and animals such as Buffalo, Rhino, Hippo and Leopard as well as plentiful plains game.

We also have affordable, all-inclusive volunteer programs on offer here in SA! Each of our horses have been rescued and rehabilitated on site by staff, friends and volunteers. Enjoy the tranquil setting at Khaya Hanci; with glorious mountain views, sweeping paddocks, a relaxed atmosphere and importantly-happy horses! Excursions are available to volunteers, as well as Mountain and Moholoholo trail rides. Experienced riders with good horsemanship skills and patience are needed.
