Capital Stud has a full vetting with X-Rays available for each sporthorse on Auction. All vettings and X-Rays were completed by Dr Mike Ross.

These vettings will be available for viewing at the Auction where prospective buyers can consult with Dr Mike Ross.

AN EXCEPTIONAL FIRST DERBY FOR CAPITAL IMPOSSIBLE

At his first-ever South African Derby, Capital Impossible showed his quality, jumping one of only three clear rounds out of the twenty-five starters in the Toyota South African Derby 2024.

Capital Impossible (Verdi x Voltaire x Wisconsin) is an exceptional stallion by the world’s number 12 stallion, Verdi, out of the illustrious Kicky Queen. His half-brother is the Zangersheide-approved stallion Tyson, with both sharing Kicky Queen as their dam. Tyson was selected as a first reserve for the London Olympics. Kicky Queen is also the mother of Moeen, who competes in the 1.60m classes internationally.

We are incredibly proud of Capital Impossible’s performance and wish to congratulate Nicole on her exceptional production of this special stallion.

As a team, we are also delighted to announce that we have three Capital Impossible offspring (Capital Isandro, Capital Ivanhoe, and Capital Indiana) in our upcoming November auction; each one has every bit of their father’s talent, scope, and mentality.

Capital Impossible’s influence on our sport, both through his own performances and those of his offspring, will be ‘impossible’ to ignore. This is just the beginning.

CAPITAL LENNOX WINS THE YHPS 5-YEAR-OLD POTENTIAL SHOWJUMPER CLASS ⭐️

Congratulations to Joanne Lotter and Capital Lennox (Capital Levubu x Capital Don Cumarco x Coronado) for their win in the 5-year-old Potential Showjumper YHPS Class.

Capital Lennox was a graduate of our November 2023 Auction, with his catalogue entry reading:

“This highly intelligent gelding learns quickly and shows off his genetic ability with his beautiful movement and scopey jump. When matched with the right rider, he has the potential to reach the pinnacle of the sport.”

It seems he’s well on his way there with Jo in the saddle. We're excited to see what’s to come from this pair in the future!

Mention must also go to Janine Coetzee and Capital Calvert (Chacoon Blue x Capital Hotline x Catoki - 2023 Capital Stud Auction) and Jade Coetzee and Capital Creighton (Capital Conlanc x Darco x Julio Mariner xx - 2023 Capital Stud Auction) on placing third and fifth in the class, respectively. LET TRY-OUTS BEGIN 🔵

Our try-outs will be held between the 30th of September and the 4th of November in Skeerpoort.

As always, the well-being of our young athletes comes first, and as such, we are limiting the number of try-out sessions available and maintaining our horses on strict individual schedules, with rest days.

OUR SOUTH AFRICAN CHAMPIONS 🇿🇦

They say dynamite comes in small packages, and that is certainly true for Capital My Lady.

Thomas and My Lady have formed an enviable partnership over the past five years together, and we witnessed this in action at Champs as they jumped triple clear and over two seconds into the lead to claim their first SA Championship title together 🇿🇦.

This is the second consecutive year that Capital My Lady and Thomas van Rijckevorsel have left every fence standing in the SA Championships title class! This year, the pair jumped three flawless rounds, showing off their remarkable consistency, stamina and poise under pressure.

Capital My Lady was sold off the first ever Capital Stud Auction in 2017 to Thomas’ grandmother, Hettie Potgieter. Despite her small stature (15.2hh), she showed exceptional form, scope and desire to jump. She is by the KWPN stallion Untouchable (Hors la Loi III x Heartbreaker x Carthago), who originates from a lineage of 1.60m jumpers. Untouchable himself has produced multiple 1.60-1.65m jumpers, including Puma HS, who competed in the Paris Olympic Games. My Lady’s dam line is also world-class, with Cassini I as her dam sire.

At Capital Stud, we are delighted to see My Lady's name featured in our upcoming youngsters through her stallion son, Capital Legacy (Levubu x Untouchable x Cassini I). We have very high hopes for Legacy as both a sire and a showjumper; with a mother like My Lady, he’s born to be ahead of the game.

Congratulations once again to Thomas and Capital My Lady, who add their names to a list of legendary Capital horses that have won the SA Showjumping Championships: Capital Rafika D’Or (2011), Capital Don Cumarco (2013), Capital Chantilly (2020). We are excited to see what more is to come from this young pair!

🟣 FEI WORLD CUP SERIES 2024/2025 WINNERS – KELLY O’CONNOR AND CAPITAL MOONLIGHT

As the top auction seller at our inaugural Capital Stud Auction in 2017, hopes were high for Capital Moonlight. From the very beginning, his partnership with Kelly O’Connor showed huge promise, with the pair winning both the overall seven-year-old showjumper and potential showjumper titles in 2020 in the Young Horse Performance Series. Last week saw the combination win the most significant title in showjumping in South Africa, just seven short years (and a trip overseas!) since the original auction.

Kelly and ‘Moon’ jumped their first WCQ in May of this year around what, on paper, was the toughest WCQ track of the season. Three weeks later, they jumped their second WCQ with just one rail and placed 9th. This was their last rail at WCQ level this year, as they went on to jump an incredible three double clears in the following three WCQs, placing 3rd, 2nd and 2nd, respectively! This consistency secured them their first World Cup SA League Series win in just their first year at this level!

Capital Moonlight is a 12-year-old gelding by Chin Win out of a Chacco Blue mare. His dam, Cha Cha Floreval, has proven to be an exceptional dam for the stud, with Moonlight’s half-brother, the seven-year-old Capital Cornetblue Floreval Z (Cornet Obolensky x Chacco Blue), having competed up to 1.35m to date with Nicole Horwood and the young stallion Capital Toulouse (Diarado x Chacco Blue) soon to make his debut in the competition arena.
