🌟 Meet Your Horses Where They Are Today 🌟
Every training session starts with a plan, but our horses might not always be up for it. Being flexible and attentive to their needs is crucial for building a strong, trusting relationship. 🤝
Today, let's focus on understanding and adapting to how our horses feel. If they're not quite up to the planned behaviour, that's okay.
Adjusting our approach shows them we care and honoring their limits.
Fostering a relationship built on trust and empathy means sometimes shifting gears and meeting them where they are at that moment. 💛🐴

Grounding exercises are a game changer for horse training. 🧘♀️✨
By taking a few moments to center ourselves, we ensure that we are calm, focused, and present for our horses. When we are grounded, we can communicate more clearly and effectively, creating a positive and productive training environment.
Remember, our energy impacts our horse's performance/behaviour. "Calm and educated trainers, create calm and educated horses" - Adele Shaw CEBC @thewillingequine .
Let's be the best trainers we can be by prioritizing mindfulness and grounding before every session. 🌟🐴

In this video, I spoke a little more about the Default Neutral Behaviour and why it is so important in setting our horses up for success and how it helps promote calm and relaxation in our training.
and how it can serve as:
a start button
RRB (Reinforcement Recieving Behaviour)
The foundation of advanced behaviours

Ali and I worked on establishing a start button for Patreon. Ali already knows the stationary target very well, we just added a way he can tell me I can do xyz.
This is how we "train" consent and follow a force free process.
In the video I am talking about "rewarding" Ali when he says no, because I don't want to punish him for saying no or else I won't get a real no, I think a more appropriate way to say it was that I won't get an authentic yes.
I go into much greater depth in the video that will be available on Patreon soon.
If you are on the Patreon you might of seen the Blondie series where I document Blondie's retraining process.
Recently we have been focusing on keeping sessions short ans successful, but also prioritizing "no expectations time". Where we spend time outside of training aswell.
I love these thoughtful moments together just being present and enjoying each other's company.
You guys have no idea how much I love this horse with my whole entire heart 💓 thank you for allowing me this moment with you my Blonde-poon.
Sorry I wanted this post to be more 'educational' but it just turned into a gushing post 😊😁
Just appreciating 😌 how greatful I am to experience moments like these with my horses.
Moments where I know he enjoys what is happening as much as I do. Moments where we listen to each other and where we hear what we have to say.
I am just grateful, and I love the cover of this song 🎵 ❤️
Hope you all are having a super day 🙌🙌❤️

Ali and I have been playing around with the mounting block. Making sure he is comfortable and understands fully what our criteria are.
I am in no rush to get him riding simply because our main goal is the TWE show, and I would like to get him stronger in his body. For now, we are playing with standing and leaving the mounting block when cued.
It's also very important to me to ensure that he willingly participates in the riding process, if we have days he isn't up to it that is fine there are so many things we can do instead.
Do you have training priority this year? 🤔
I wanted to share some videos from last week's sessions with Ali.
My goal with this session was to:
-add cone patterns to our cirteria.
-have snappy reaponses to my cues (not have Ali get stuck at the cone).
We have a few behaviours here, we have the DN, moving target, walking and the cone.
This is all in preparation for the annual @thewillingequine virtual show, this is one of my new years resolutions to compete this year.
For my eagle eyed 👀 followers might see Ali and I have special way of delivering and recieve reinforcement, bc he is blind in his left eye I help him out by gently grazing my finger along his nose.
What have you guys been working on your horses with? Do you have any horsey new years resolutions?
